The ride is almost over except for the last, short and sweet stretch, Bangalore->Chennai, which I will do after some days.
Congratulations on completing yet another ride. May you have the spirit & health for many more such rides.

Really you are an inspirations for us.

Just a suggestion, you can further hone your riding skills by enrolling to a Ride academy. They teach you many skills which can be useful in real life situations.

Congratulations sir !

The Pune - Bangalore stretch is wonderful so maintaining good speeds is possible. The stretch between Pune and Karad sees a lot of traffic though but once past Nipani, it is a blast. No wonder why most Saddlesore successful attempts have been done in the Pune - Bangalore - Pune stretch.

It was great to meet you and your Blue Bird yesterday in Pune. We are awaiting pictures now, specially of the White Rann. Glad to know that your motorcycle is performing extremely well. I must salute your enthusiasm for doing long solo-highway runs on your motorcycle quite frequently. Thanks for inspiring us.

One thing, I will reiterate: at the end of the day's/night's ride, only I get tired and wish to go to bed; not Blue Bird, which is eager to continue the ride on and on.

Talking The Dirty Bird - Insects Of 4 States & 1 UT

An insect-strike on a rider could be as dangerous as a bird-strike on an aircraft. So, I use a full-face helmet with visor while riding and wash and clean the visor during every refueling. However, I have not washed my bird during the GJ ride as I have decided to get it serviced after reaching Chennai. Here are some photographs showing the mortal remains of the insects of TN/KA/MH/GJ/DD that my bird attracted so far.

BTW, my bird has so far visited 20 states and UT, viz., TN, PY, KA, KL, AP, OD, WB, JH, BR, UP, DL, HR, RJ, GJ, MH, TS, MP, PB, HP and DD.

Just an hour ago, I renewed my bird's third party liability only insurance online with United India Insurance by paying ₹ 972, although the present insurance expires only in the next month.

Today, I cleaned and lubricated the chain and visited the nearby HP COCOO and got my bird's tank filled upto the brim.

Yesterday, I checked and topped up air pressure in both the tyres, using my portable tyre inflator.

Now, Blue Bird is ready to ride the last section, Bangalore -> Chennai, tomorrow.

Default Bangalore ->Chennai . 356 km . 6 hours 40 minutes

Blue Bird reached its registered nest at Royapettah, Chennai at 11 am today, ending the GJ ride officially, technically and formally. It left Bangalore Basaveswara Nagar home at 4:20 am today; crossed Hosur within one hour. Rain gave company from Hosur to Krishnagiri; crossed Vaniambadi toll plaza at 6:30 am; breakfasted at A2B Arcot Bypass between 7:30 and 8:15 am; had tankful at IOCL Woodlands Enterprises before arriving home.

For records purpose, there have been no puncture, no breakdown, no accident, no cops/RTO problem and no falling down. Blue Bird has done a hat-trick on that for the last 3 mega rides. I am thankful and grateful to my bird for having brought me home safely and comfortably without any problems.

Considering peak hour riding in Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Thane, ghat roads, bad roads, etc., the fuel efficiency recorded, viz., 29.88 kmpl is a decent one.

Dear Mr. Ravi,

Your passion and commitment to travel on your beloved Bluebird is beyond amazing
Beautiful photographs and excellent descriptions throughout your thread as well.

Just reading about the places you have visited and distances covered makes me feel tired.

Default Ride Across India: GJ - Sabarmati Ashram

I visited Sabarmati Ashram on 21 Nov 2010 for the first time. The details are here (If It's Tuesday, This Must Be Agra!).

I was there again on 22 Feb 2017 after more than 6 years.

Wow,

You are the greatest rider/biker I have ever known sir.

Also considering that your bike has zero modifications for seating, handle etc, you are an inspiration.

3 Mega rides surely does prove the bike's might and Royal Enfield should really thank you for making their brand more famous. I believe there have been a lot of guys (including me) who have opted for a 500cc Fuel injected bike just by this thread.

I am really impressed by the way you have planned this particular ride and stuck to the whole plan and achieved it. Booking hotels before hand with the confidence of reaching there at the exact date and time is absolutely fantastic.

What next, Laddakh ? / World Tour ?

The tar layer came out easily. I tried this cycle several times. Finally, cleaned the affected area with Brasso. The multi-pronged attack paid the dividends!

Ravi sir pardon me for quoting your old post. Can I know whether this method would work for burned plastic stuck on my bikes exhaust?. I tried wd40 and allowed my bike to idle and used a cotton cloth to remove it but in vain. Thank you.

Sure. I had removed a patch of a plastic bag that got stuck on the exhaust bend pipe by the same method. Wear a glove and try on a small patch. If the results are good, then, gradually apply in other affected areas.

Kerosene is a good solvent of tar and plastics. I use WD40 only to clean the chain before spraying the chain lubricant.

Sir since this seems like a pertinent issue considering heating of the exhaust, have you ever considered using a exhaust wrap because I feel it will be safe for the rider and also safer for kids at home/outside who may touch the hot exhaust accidentally.

Sir using kerosene to clean the burnt plastic when the exhaust is hot, isn't that dangerous since kerosene is flammable, correct me if I'm wrong.

Regards.

My bird has a secured, protected and covered parking space. So, there is no need for any wrap. I am not interested.

Using kerosene to remove tar or plastic on a hot exhaust does not result in any fire accident. I am hale and hearty to reply to your queries after successfully tried that solvent. Nothing happened to me or my bird.
