Default Red Rooster developing Yamaha R15 *Turbo*!

Not much on specs, but Red Rooster Performance has announced that they are working on a turbocharged version of the Yamaha R15.

This sounds interesting.

Wow. I'm glued to this thread now.

Please do try and get more details and post them up here.

I've read about turbo installs on the Ninja 250R in the USA and seen a video or two on youtube as well but these were shot in the garage during installation / tuning so not sure on the reliability and real world performance.

If this does come around without any major issues, and the same can be done on a ninja as well, i'll put any desires of upgrading my bike on the back burner.

Thanks for sharing and awaiting more details

Speechless!

Anybody who owns (rides) a R15 knows for a fact that there is much more that the bike can handle.

Just checked Red Roosters FB page and I am glad to see that the kit is already in the final testing phase and will be available for both the V1 & V2 variants.

Will they provide a FFE along with the turbo kit? No mention of that.

Waiting for some figures to be shared now...

Saw this bike yesterday at their workshop -seems very innovative with a triangular exhaust and all that.

Yes, the pic shows the FFE and will almost surely come with the kit. It does for cars they do at least. They wouldn't turbo an engine only to be restricted by the stock exhaust.

Not sure if FFE is needed with all turbo jobs, especially for car engines, else stock cars with stock turbos would not have conventional exhausts.
Ofcourse for the R15 the exhaust needs to be modified, the existing exhaust would be too restrictive for the higher powered turbo engine.

Stock cars have emission and noise norms to meet.
Even they gain with an FFE, especially car engines (petrols). Someone TC'ing for gains will not end up neglecting the exhaust.

Waiting for the price, I guess it should be around 50k and power inc should be atleast 15-20 hp. Well that is what I expect.

True, but with all these mods the R15 wont be road legal. How can Red Rooster sell the performance mods if the bike is not road legal? Unless they are planning to legalize the mods...

I'm thrilled. Cops will have a nice time charging these kind of bikes for their decibels. I don't think this would be street legal.

I surely feel its high time for Yamaha to consider a 250cc or a little more than that for Indian customers. I'm eagerly waiting for Yamaha to make such a move.

Exactly, the bike is rock stable even at speeds of 140 (speedometer indicated), though it struggles a bit to reach there.
