You just echoed my feelings bro. I was hoping someone to ask mr. Bajaj if the KTM can go tour the himalayas. Please bring an adventure version

Much prefer to wait for the adventure version myself. Because if it looks anything like this...

The international market is all about waiting for the adventure version. Most riders on advrider are really gungho about a fuel efficient 390 engine astride a simple and light chassis. Fab combo.

Enquired at Indiranagar KTM and they said OTR should be 2.2 odd. They had offered me 1.05 for my D200 earlier so at 1 lakh topup, you have twice the power. Can see quite a few people upgrading.
What mindblowing pricing this!

Wow, talk about a game changer!

The way biking works for quite a lot of the Indian market, the pricing will absolutely kill the competition considering the displacement.

Even the D200 seems overpriced for how far ahead the 390 is, no wonder they told me there's no plans of an 200 ABS.

ABS, 44 BHP vs 25 BHP and the grippier Metzeler rubber alone is worth the 60,000 rupees premium. Loving it!

They'll probably only launch the adventure version in 2014. The current 390 would be pretty capable tourer on asphalt with a bit of unpaved road thrown in. But I think its low-slung exhaust might make those 'river' crossings in Ladakh a challenge.

This is probabaly the best piece of news for quite a long time. Absolutely blows the competition away with such a killer price, albeit an introductory one. Lets see how Honda can keep up with such a VFM offering.

I can see a lot of D200's going up for sale soon, they don't stand a chance when for a little more you can get the 390.

Game changer Rahul Bajaj, an absolute masterstroke.

If it is confirmed , the waiting makes sense. But when there is no roadmap or official statement from KTM , then waiting will be killing and waste .

If I upgrade all the existing mods go directly on to the 390 ,simble .

Absolutely fantastic pricing! I doubt there ever was a better bike in India when one considers the power-price ratio!

Well, the R15 I understand, but selling off the RXs and RDs for fear of losing resale value is a bit strange. Agreed that they are insanely priced now (especially RDs), and with good performance bikes (and light-years ahead in technology) available for lesser money, the prices should definitely come down. Of course if these guys kept those bikes to make some money, it makes sense to sell them off.

I would love to have a Duke 390 in my garage, but definitely wouldn't sell off my RX or RD. But then, that's just me. There will be another Duke 390, but there will never be another RX or RD.

On the other hand, I do hope that RD prices and spare part prices cool down a bit, because my RD restoration is costing me an arm and a leg.

Finally the launch and price makes the worth fruitful. I am picking up the bike in the first lot itself. Can anyone confirm when the bookings are starting in other cities. In Hyderabad the dealer have started the bookings with 30K amount

Price on road is between 2.1 -2.2 Lakhs . Expected delivery date is 2nd week of July

I have seen a Duke 200 with more than half of its wheels under water riding without issues. In fact, it even shut down and started with thumbing the starter normally. No fuss. Don't have the video link right now, can post it if you want.

LOL Mik. I just put my CBR up for sale in my office's internal portal. You selling off the 220 too!? I thought you were pretty much attached to it. Anyway, with the killer pricing and about 300PS/tonne, emotions can take a backseat.

This unfortunately is the 2013 1190 adventure from katoom. Like I said, if the 390 avdy is anything even remotely like in this picture, would be a pretty sensible buy for touring.

Stefan has come on record saying that the 390 will come out with an enduro version as well as an adventure version pretty soon. I wouldn't be surprised if those launches are planned for 2014, considering all it needs is some slap-on kit. These are proper PR interviews with multiple magazines - and you find the same quotes all over the internet.

The 390 adventure would make for the perfect world tourer. Great power, great range (thanks to a definably bigger tank), fuel efficient, needn't run on any RON's, super light weight chassis (great for women), enough space for the pillion (the only darn thing absent from the naked 390 - apart from the piddly fuel tank). People riding 690 adventure's on world tours right now seem to be following the 390 launch as evidenced in their reports and trust me - they really really want that engine.

You really don't need anything more than the specs of a 390 to do a world tour.
