Congrats on your new bike !!!

As some one earlier said, there is a new world to explore in every bike like sedate driving, brisk acceleration or some other thing. I am sure you made the right choice, Ninja 650 would also have been a good option.

Drive safe.

Cheers

On the point of customisations, the stock ones being exorbitantly costly, there is a very interesting Superlow owner dustom_99 in Haridwar, an automobile engineer I presume. I saw his thread here on Teambhp but nothing much since quite long since I see his status saying banned, the reasons for which are unknown to me.

He has done very interesting low cost mods to his bike like raising the suspension with his own fabricated and chromed parts (in less than 4K) and also modifying the stock exhausts for better sound by removing the baffles etc. He then took his bike to places unheard for a Harley like the rugged hills of Uttarkashi and beyond with zero bottoming outs. He is also developing a low cost but equally strong engine guard for the Harleys.

Nice enterprise for many Harley owners if he succeeds. I wish him luck...

Going through the Harley Davidson Sportster SERVICE MANUAL 2010 (825 pages/158MB) which I got hold off, I came to realise why these bikes are as costly as they are. There are so many parts to shame some big cars and the manual is so detailed. A hands on delight...

Congrats on the new bike Dkaile!

May you have a lot of fun, riding more than what you could on your earlier bike.

If I may ask, whatever happened to the pre-owned one you were looking at? The owner who has parked it in his house and drives an A6?

If it is still available - I might be interested

Thanks. The bike is still to reach me by Sept. end. That bike has been sold off by that gentleman at his asking price of 5L. I wouldn't have gone for that anyways because of the 'girly' red colour on an already 'so called' 'girly' Harley by US standards... lolz. Imagine women reviewers calling the Superlow as a 'lightweight' 'racer' 'toy' in their reviews in the US!! Guess what they would have called our 100~250cc majority or even our 500cc Enfield??

Harley Davidson today launched the 2014 lineup of its motorcycles today in the US - http://www.harley-davidson.com/en_US...torcycles.html

I have posted details on this new topic on this subject - http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/motorb...ml#post3212551

I confirmed from the Capital Harley Sales Manager that these should be here by November. So I have told him to kindly get this news confirmed so that I can change the booking to the 2014 Superlow rather than the 2013 model, for which he had no objections.

Great, was just reading this on an rss feed. Wait for the 2014, and buy good riding gear until then, you have enough time to get stuff hand carried as well.

@dkaile.

what is the on road price of street bob and superlow. I love the street bob though fat boy is always my favorite.

What will be the price difference for the 2014 model.

Not sure whether I will be waiting for the 2014 one because nothing is clear yet at HD India. I doubt whether they will be launched before the new year. Also visually the changes are hardly visible except the slightly improved brakes. The ABS is optional in the US and I doubt if that will make it to India.

Street Bob is 11.23L whereas the Superlow is 6.34L, i.e. nearly half the price. 2014 models will be pricier by about 50k to a lakh at least. I am not sure whether I will wait for the 2014 models. I would rather bargain a better deal for the 2013 one, as the differences are marginal on deeper study.

glued to this thread!

If Triumph were to make their products out of reach, this is what my search would narrow down to -- Ninja 650 vs Harley Superlow

Very interesting thread!

I would strike off Royal Enfield off my list. When someone is spending >5 lacs INR for a bike - the last thing he/she would want is 'niggles'. The RE bikes sadly have many of them. A Harley or Ninja surely better on that contest, however the cost of repairs and spares would be the deal maker/breaker.

For the sake of exclusivity, repute and styling - I would perhaps pick up a Harley Superlow 2014.

My guess is if RE is priced at >5L it would definitely be without niggles.

If you think Harley is without niggles, you will be in for a surprise. These are mechanical machines which will invariably have some niggles at one point or another.

650 is the best bet out of the three to have a far better ownership experience for the bike is rock solid and superb in reliability.

+1 to that VW2010. Harleys are notorious for their poor reliability and the scenario has not changed for Indian Customers as well. Electricals continue to be a weak point for them. But with a 650 the character would be missing that of HD

My favourite Harley would be a Black Fat Bob. It has a lot of character. But sadly it costs 14L. But then even the 883cc engine is too big for our roads let alone the 1600cc one. We just don't have the roads, period!!

What Bike? Ninja650 vs HD Superlow vs Duke390 vs Bullet500. Edit: HD Superlow it is !-13hdfatbobc09w16.png
