Thumbs up Fe Of Rx

Here are the links to the Sunnyman_46 's rx pics...
ImageShack - Hosting :: dsc00118eb3.jpg

man ur bike is very neat n well maintained....wat size are the rear wheels??16"??also wat tyres??front tyre is mrf zapper??

BTW guys ,as u guys might know ,i have a 98 rx135 4 speed tiger,with expansion chamber...
last week i jus decided to check the fuel efficiency of the bike...the bike did 49 kmpl even with late nite rides above 80kmph .....also its the best mileage i have heard for a rx with expansion chamber....i use CASTROL JETX oil in the 2t tank....don know the tyre air pressure though....
my bikes running on mrf motod 3x18 on rear and mrf nylorib 2.5x18 on front...as front tyre is stock tyre,i guess the odometer reading will be correct....
now is there any problem with my bike ??because i heard tht rx returns such gud fe only when the engine is running lean and it will damage the engine...
in my case the engine performance as usual is superb....does 80 in 3rd gear...also no excessive smoke....
so tbhpians pls tell me whether there is any reason to worry??

@Hari Rama, What changes have you made to the bike? You running a different ignition kit other than stock?
The best way to check if your bike is running lean is to check your spark plug. It shouldn't be white or black.
Open thy carb and check the jet size. I think stock jet for an RX is 160.

You'll have to remove the spark plug. Try this link Tech Tips They are talking about scooters but its basically the same thing.

RX100 = 115
RX135 4 speed = 165
RX135 5 speed = 135.

Question

Hey all yamaha fans, i read almost the whole thread, but could'nt find an answer about the Engine oil.

1) After how Many kilometers should once change the engine oil On the RX100?
2) Which is the best Engine oil available in the market (bombay) for RX100?
3) Is there any special way of draining/flushin the oil, which we as DIYers cannot do ?? Just want to know the process. Actually want to take a little deep interest on my RX100 since the Mechanic is away.

Awaiting replies on this post. Thank you in advance.

here are your answeres...
1> generally after 2.5 K kms.. is good..
2> Castrol / Racer / Mobil
3> just open up the screw under the engine...( u can look benith the engine and locate it easily).... let the oil drain out completely... pinup the screw back and pour the oil in the engine....

guys,my bike just had a clutch plate change and a headlight mod.now itd got ringing type of noise when i go at speeds of 70-80kmph in topgear(4th gear).but if i reduce the throttle, the sound goes off and if i increase the throttle to around 80+ the sound goes off then too.
what may be the reason for this noise??also the bike doesn go more than 70-74kmph in 3rd gear.after that the bike seems to have lost power :(

Rajeev i don't see much reasons as to why it shoud't give u a gud punch in 2nd gear...Just check out for couple of things

- Is there any missing, soon after you shift the gear or when u increase the throttle......Just get ur carb cleaned and tuned nicely

- Chek and replace ur spark plug

- Decarbonise ur bike

-try filling petrol from a more reliable petrol pump

Hope that helps

You changed your clutch plate ...may be the plates are not working properly that may be a reason why you cannot go faster..check the spark strength and engine compression. how many kms has ur bike done? Where is the noise comming from ?? Does it come when the bike is standing still and revving the engine or only while moving?

Hey all,
Pretty late to find out this thread. Its nice to see a thread dedicated to RX 135 owners.
My ride is a 99 4 speed RX 135 clocked 45k kms.
I feel like the bike is starting to loose its performance ,after my clutch plate changes.
Even though the bike gives the initial thump in 1 st gear..I dont see it in other gears.
I know there is something wrong working with the clutch plates..I remember my mechanic saying the plates donot have enough oil flowing...What will be the reason for this...and how can i get rid of this and bring the bike back to performance....????
