looks like a continental GT setup (however a relaxed ergo setup than the GT) single cylinder and the striking thing is a mono shock

Thumbs up re: Royal Enfield trademarks the name "Himalayan" EDIT: Now unveiled!

Thanks for sharing this pic Tushar. If this is indeed the elusive Himalayan, then it seems to be shaping into a beautiful looking retro scrambler - a global niche which has recently found attention from some major manufacturers like Triumph, Ducati and BMW.

Visually there appears to be some 'borrowing' from the Continental GT parts bin, but the iconic yellow Paioli's and the twin cradle frame seem to be missing. In fact it appears to be a single rear shock setup. Loved the matte black treatment of the rims though, ala the Triumph Scrambler.

In all, an exciting development indeed and I look forward to the launch.

p.s. Is it just me or is this test rider actually travelling on the wrong side of the highway?

Heat sink, Crank case etc seems to be much different(in looks) from existing engines. Looks suggests that it may be OHC engine.

That's some relief for everyone who got bothered by the horrid looking rendering that was based on inputs from 'insiders' ! This really looks good and monoshocks on an RE is surely saying something about how serious the brand is with this adventure-tourer bike.

Oh! Worry not. He is on the correct lane only- the truck is on the service lane, which makes it seem that way

On second looks, this spy shot bears striking resemblance (other than the high exhaust & mono shocks) to a rendition done by the Italian designer Oberdan Bezzi a while back. I wonder if he is involved in the design.

From his very interesting blog on scramblers:

Quote:
ROYAL ENFIELD & McDEEB 500 SCRAMBLER .

Assumptions of how it could be the next generation of ROYAL ENFIELD .
Cycling traditional design but crystal clear , EFI engine always 500cc . air-cooled , sizing " European " and classical aesthetics .
Type Street Scrambler with wheels 19 " front and 18 " with tires semitassellati post .
ROYAL ENFIELD version with more elegant liveries and series for the public more traditionalist , the McDEEB , younger and vibrant to attract customers aged less mature and with the ability to customize it to taste.
Then the bike would "base " to decline many other types and flesh out the range of the historic Casa Indiana .
(Google translation of description, pls don't shoot me if the language doesn't make much sense)

You must be the first guy to get the 410 and the single cyl right- I must you.

:-)

Looks like someone created a Himalayan before RE
This is a cross between TB and CGT, and according to RE guys, that's what himalayan is going to be.

I have heard from a very reliable source that RE is working with a leader in instrumentation from South India on a Speedo console with an integrated digital compass. This would probably be for the new bike- Himalaya or whatever.

Isn't the mono-shock and the slightly 'raised' rear looking slightly odd on a cruiser kind of a motorcycle?

The Triumphs and Harleys typically do not have this kind of design.

It's not a cruiser by any stretch. It's closest resemblance is to another retro design called a Scrambler. Harley doesn't make any but Triumph does. Here is their version:

Two new renderings from another forum.
The engine looks different. I hope that the engine is reliable.

This bike may check all the boxes for me if it is around 30 BHP

Handlebar, RVMs, Instrument console, gearbox cover and vintage seat are from the recently launched Ducati Scrambler Classic edition. Petrol tank I think is from the modified Continental GT we saw earlier. I don't think this version of Himalayan is materialising anytime soon.

Good job in finding these images.
These are not (dont seem to be) renderings, my company does renderings of machinery and the visual guys swear this is a real bike... which has been published as a render to avoid the legal hassles arising from the legal tem at RE so dedicatedly protecting the 410.
The colour scheme, tanks, side panels and seats could be very different, but the mechanicals are all solidly of the new bike... so say my office boys and...

Yes you are rite the person who has created the image has planted all those stuff from the scrambler. I still feel that this is close to what people have spotted testing.

Yes Mr. D these may not be renderings I am sure I have used an incorrect word.

Here is a photo of what has been spotted.
