Default Bajaj drops Discover 100, 100M and 125M from its line-up

Bajaj Auto has taken the Discover 100, 100M and 125M off its website, indicating that models could have been discontinued. Following this move, only three variants of the Discover remain on sale -the Discover 125, Discover 150S and Discover 125F.

Bajaj already has the Platina and CT-100 motorcycles to cater to the commuter segment. It is also believed to be working on a new brand that will cater to the 100-150cc segment. The first bike under this brand will be rolled out in FY16.

With the move to discontinue the three Discover models, the company is looking to position the Discover brand a step higher than the 100-125cc commuter segment.

If it is true, it is actually a welcome move.
How many different variants can you have on one brand?
Not only the Discover, but also the Pulsar. There are about 8 variants with Pulsar itself right now. They need to do some positioning of brands, and drop variants which do not sell well.
Market is moving towards gearless scooters. When people buy cars for long journeys, they will prefer scooters for short journeys & errands, instead of a motorcycle. The whole of 100-125CC market has a chance to shift towards scooters in few years.
Time for Bajaj to reinvent themself, similar to how they evolved from Chetak to Pulsar

A welcome move. About a year or so back, I went to a Bajaj showroom (simply because I had time to kill) and checked out their bikes. The range was very confusing.

Now, they have 2 100cc commuter bikes (CT100 and Platina), and 3 bikes in the Discover range, making customer choice much easier.
However, when I browsed their website just now, I could not figure out the difference between the 150S and 150F!

Discontinuing a motorcycle brand has become a usual routine with Bajaj. Infact I have lost the count now and I am very much confused with their current range of motorcycles. With the recent change, they are back to square one albeit discover range covers 125cc-150cc. They just went on adding suffix to their entire range and finally realized their folly. No doubt I feel these stupid moves from Bajaj is ultimately hampering the customer`s trust in the brand Bajaj.

Finally a better streamlining of brands by Bajaj. Although I feel they should have left the Discover as entry level commuter bike with 100-125cc which is how the discover brand was conceived to start with. Bajaj could've introduced a new brand to plug the gap between 125 and 150cc. Instead Bajaj kept beefing up the Discover engines and came to a point where its no more a entry level commuter bike which it was known for. Similar story with Pulsar. Started with 150cc and god knows what is the highest capacity now:Frustrate. It leaves the consumers confused. I guess Bajaj was trying to leverage of the brand value that Discover and Pulsar earned over the years to sell more powerful vehicles under the same name tag.

Bajaj Auto India Drops 3 Motorcycles From Its Line-up

The company has taken the Discover 100, 100M and 125M off its website and this could be a clear indication that the company has discontinued these products.

For those of you who might have thought that discontinuing bikes from the 100cc segment wasn't a wise choice, well Bajaj already has the Platina and the CT-100 which cater to this segment.

The decision to take these three bikes off the list has certainly brought in a relief for the buyers. It has streamlined the range of products on offer and has paved the path for something new. The discontinuation of these three bikes from the Discover range has sparked a certain degree of curiosity, whether the company is looking at a new brand altogether to cater to the 100-150 cc segment. we expect that the bikes to be unveiled or some kind of announcement to be made at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo.

I for one, hardly make ay difference between the Bajaj bikes.

They seem so similar and I hardly find any difference either in the features or the looks or the engine specs(barring the 25 cc increments).

This could also be the reason that confused customers turn to the Shine and the Dream and find it of better value.
