Interesting to note that KTM is planning a completely new platform by 2017 and phasing out current line up by then

A good and detailed read-

" In that light, you can expect the new range of motorcycles to also incorporate ride by wire. KTM indicated to us at Milan that the new emissions norms, Euro IV, is tight enough to warrant serious re-engineering, and not just for the Austrian brand. In that sense, a new range of motorcycles built from scratch to meet those requirements suits the regulatory as well as the freshness needs of this market. Pierer confirmed to CNBC-TV18 that the new bikes will be different not just in engine and engineering but also in design and at the component level."

Has anyone checked out the 2016 RC series? I called up Langford KTM, and they say the up-swept exhaust is only for the international markets. Indian markets are getting only the under-belly exhausts. The other features - slipper clutch, RBW, bigger front discs, etc. are present.

I think I also read somewhere that there is no headlamp switch on the latest and most premium KTM's - that the headlight is kept continually on.

Ah, this is such great news for me (though I don't intend to own a new RC anytime soon), since as per my own long-time habit of running with my bike's light on day or night, I have been continually harassed all over this land by just about anyone/everyone: from small children to housewives to otherwise attentive young men seated at dinner with their pretty dates (astonishing!), to (of course) utterly concerned members of the police force (a couple times in this last week alone). Yes!!!! I've finally been vindicated!!!! Now leave me alone, will ya?!

In all seriousness, this has been encouraged / practiced / legally enforced for decades in some lands, where "DRL's" (daytime running lights) have been shown to make a marked difference in preventing accidents. I welcome this new era... and suspect that within a few years, a headlamp on in the daytime will attract about as much attention as a car lacking headlight masking...
