I noticed that little saree guard at the rear tire just now. Wonder if this is the first and only scooter so far to sport a saree guard at rear!

To everyone who has bought the scoot, where does the front number plate fit. ?

Is there a frame for the front number plate as an accessory or is the only option to stick the number on the front apron

A sticker is the best option. Any drilling for number plate will spoil the look. BTW I am taking delivery of a black one today evening.

I think so. I am taking delivery of mine today evening and planning to get it removed as I feel it affects the sporty looks.

Team, brought home my Black Hawk today evening. The ride back home from showroom was very exciting what with the exhilarating ride and also the scooter being center of attraction at each signal.
Since I have been riding the Wego since last 6 years, will need some time to get used to the new dynamics.
I will post pictures and a review soon.

Would this make a good first scooter for a beginner ? Planning on getting a 2 wheeler next year to make my commute easier. Hopefully owners will keep updating this thread and Aprilia will sort out the initial niggles

Got to know from Motoplex yesterday that Aprilia is going to offer a sports exhaust as an accessory.
At present, even a side stand isn't available there though

Hi guys,

I got my scooter on 17th of this month and started using it from 20th onwards. Below I have put down my initial impressions and few photos.

Dealer:- MS Motors, Mugaliwakkam, Mount Poonamallee Highway, Chennai.
Dealer experience (Booking/delivery):- 9/10

Total on-road (including compulsory accessories):- Rs.78,600/-

Odo reading at time of delivery:- 30kms.
Odo reading as on today:- 130kms.

My daily ride is from home to office and back covering a total distance of 30kms.

Pros:-
1) Attention grabber. This is ofcourse due to the novelty factor, very few on road. And I believe it will remain so due to the cons I have listed below.
2) Sporty looks.
3) Good speeds, unseen on other scooters, achieved on highways.
4) Above average headlights.
5) Front discs with good feel.
6) Vibrations are not bothersome.

Cons:-
1) Stiff ride. Every undulation on the road is felt on the handlebar.
2) High seating. I am 5'6" and feel that's the lower cut-off for this scooter. I can manage with both toes touching the ground. If you are shorter then forget about this scooter. On the other hand if you are too tall then keep in mind the limited foot board space. I feel this scooter will be comfortable for someone of around 5'8". Definitely will not be a hit with female riders.
3) Rear brakes very weak. Have to get it fixed, if possible, during 1st service next month.
4) Limited under seat storage. Can accommodate a half face helmet.
5) Availability of R14/120/70 tyres by Indian suppliers not sure.
6) Mileage... still under review. But expectations are not too high.

So, as you all can see most of the reasons for which people usually go for a scooter are listed under 'Cons". So it will be a niche seller. So I can keep grabbing eyeballs at signals..

So without much ado let the pictures do the talking. All pics are taken on Lenovo A6000+.

Battery may not have been charged fully by dealer at the time of delivery?

Ok, let me be more clear. It cranks but dies, I use kickstart/Electric both, still takes its own sweet time to start.

Crap! I was going to get rid of my enfield and buy a scooter for "peace of mind". SR150 was on my list. But I guess I'll wait.

This is a problem in our Vespa S125 and the Vespa VX 125 too. Whenever we get the vehicle serviced, we mention this.

They tell us that they have rectified and for the next 5 months the scooter doesn't give any problems but again it resurfaces.

The regular service is at an interval of 3 months and we ge tit done without fail. So in effect, Every alternate service, we have this problem in the job card

Thanks Hemanth. Was dreading this, and now am a bit worried.

What is your cold starting procedure? Choke/No Choke? Kick/Electric? How many tries does it take for you?

Use choke/kicker combo. I use the same procedure everyday on my activa. Make it to idle until it warms up. Of course, you have to kick twice or thrice. No problem till now. Rest of the day after warm up, i use self start.

Everyday, its my wife who starts the S125. She doesn't use the kicker.
for the 4-5 months when it is in order, it starts without any choke with just 1 press of the start button.

When it shows the first signs of deterioration, it dies down during the first 2 cranks but starts again. next step, she uses choke and in 2 to 3 cranks it starts. After starting, if she tries to revv it up, it dies down. but if she leaves it at idle speed, after 30-60 seconds, it "settles down". After "settling down", there is no problem. the sound that it makes gives a good indication if the engine will die down or settle.

When the problem is too much, it takes 5-8 cranks even with the choke. byt htis time, my wife gets irritated and then uses the kicker and a couple of kicks later, it starts. This is a week before the next service is due. It has reached this level only once till now in 2+ years. After the service, the cycle repeats.

My Sister's VX 125 is better though. most of the times times it lies idle for 2 to 3 weeks at a stretch. but it starts with a couple of cranks or 3 at max with the 3rd one with choke

My Dad's Activa and SIL's Scooty are good in this aspect (only)

These are my observations of the SR150 after owning one for 350 kms and counting.

+
  • Absolute head turner, everyone keeps staring at it at red signals, and ask random questions about it, some even chase me down and ask few questions
  • Great handler, very much chuckable and confidence inspiring
  • Powerful enough to leave most other two wheeler commuters behind, engine has a loud note and is responsive
  • Fuel efficient as well, currently returns around 40+ kmpl, am hoping this only gets marginally better as the engine runs more
  • Great tyres to complement the power and handling

-
  • Seat is a bit high and most users would not be able to place feet flat on the ground
  • Underseat storage is limited
  • Rear brakes are absolutely useless, most of the braking duty is done by the front 220mm disc
  • Headlamp looks great but is focused too high, should try lowering the beam
  • 3 month service intervals irrespective of how much the vehicle runs
  • Availability of accessories, am still waiting for the side stand
  • Questionable QC/PDI done, mine had some exhaust safety valve loosening itself in 100+kms of usage, and the motoscoot sounded like with a FFE, was fixed in 10 mins at the service centre, another user from Bangalore had his engine seized at 250 kms odd, was diagnosed to a clogged oil strainer which restrained oil flow to the engine, Aprilia has fixed the engine though, and is also manufacturing a new one for him with the same engine number which would later be installed
