Question

hi friends,
I'm a new member from chandigarh n being an autofreak its gr8 to join team-bhp .
i've a YAMAHA RX135 (2002) . M a die hard 2 stroke fan n like everybody else here i also love my bike a lot so i want it 2 be in perfect tune..........
My bike has done 65000~kms. Its running on .50 oversize pistons since ~42000kms. But now i feel tht it has lost its performance punch. Now i've decided 2 redo my bike's engine. I've decided to go for all yamaha original clutch plates, air filter , all cables , brand new muffler(the one which previous rx135 had all chrome. M getting it from yamaha ppl for 1500rs) and NGK spark plug. well well well now comes most imp thing i.e. Piston , rings ,cylinder....here lies my query>>
Friends please suggest me whether i should go for original yamaha cylinder kit(costs arnd 3100) OR should i just go for next over size .75 piston n rings n get the cylinder block re-bored. Please adive which of the above options will give me better results (performance wise)

all valuable replies are welcome
RIDE SAfe

Depends upon the amount you are gonna use it...If the usage wont be much then you can probably go in for an overbore...

1500 bucks for all that from the Yamaha guys themselves....awesome..

hey!! nice to find a 2 stroke fan..
i'd say go for the cylinder kit if budget is'nt an issue...its always better to be running a stock bore than an oversize.(this is if your talking bout improving performance by keeping your stock)

If your looking for ONLY performance, i'd say continue with ur current block and get it ported with tuned expansion chambers. I'm saying this cuz u might not want to touch(port) a brand new block.
the 135 has very ristricted ports..hence even a mild porting job does a HELL LOT! as for chambers, get them custom build (tuned length)

cheers

I suggest you buy a new 5 speed bore kit and get your existing cylinder ported after reboring to +.75.

The 5 speed cylinder will help the bike rev out better and achieve better top speeds. The 4 speed is better for low end performance. Think of the 5 speed kit as a factory ported cylinder.

incidently here in bangalore, the 5-speed barrel retails at 200rs lesser than the 4-spd. so wht not settle for the best. currently we are building a street bomb capable of doing easily 20hp...will post the pics soon.

thanks guys for all ur valuable suggestion....

Well finally please suggest should i go for mild porting n changing my current .50 pistion to new re-bore 0.75. and then i gonna install DTW expansion chamber....will all these modification gonna give some fruit??

fuel economy is not an issue ,i can compromise it for the performance ..But yes i have one more question:- Will my ported engine gonna have a long life....because i need to use my bike daily for approx 40-45km. ....
