FZ16 was a revolution. FZ25 is not even much of an evolution.

2 valve, air cooled, single cylinder 250?
20ps?
More importantly, no ABS as well.

No wonder there is no hype created in the market post the unveil.

Anybody got to see/ride the FZ25 yet?

I checked with Bangalore dealer yesterday and they said they have not received the bike.

No. Dealers are yet to be billed. But demo bikes should be arriving, at least at big places like Bangalore etc.

Let us see. I am buying this, can't seem to freeze on anything else. D-390 would be awesome but not practical for me.

I am actually considering FZ25 and Dominar. I just made a small comparison (this is restricted to features that mattered to me) to arrive at a logical decision on buying.

I will take a decision once I drive both bikes back to back.

- twin disc brakes
- FI engine
- Hassle free ownership experience
- Less bulky compared to competition

Same thoughts here! I think Yamaha could have added a additional 6th gear to make it more relaxed tourer.

Bikewale lists Bangalore Ex-showroom price as Rs. 1.21 lakhs and estimated OTR as Rs. 1.41 lakhs.

https://www.bikewale.com/pricequote/...ZEZWFsZXJJZD0w

Yesterday I spoke with Perfect Riders and they mentioned OTR could be Rs. 1.45 lakhs and bike is expected early next week.

Any further news on bikes? I am surprised to see no media reviews yet. In fact, no photographs even save for what was seen at the launch.

Has Yamaha slept?

Next, Honda will launch an aircooled 250 with plenty of flashy stickerjob and 19bhp, no ABS at INR 1.60:

To all who's comparing Yamaha to Bajaj... My few cents based on 16 years of ownership of Yamaha and why not to compare them

I have owned a Yamaha YBX 1999 (first batch) and was riding it with all glory and pleasure till 2015. From the day I bought it, I felt no reduction of power and efficiency (constantly around 43-47KMpL after first free service). No problem till I sold it and after 16 years of use and riding it for 108000 KMs, I sold it for 18K to a Dirt Racer. He preferred it over a Pulsar 180 for re-boring and expanding the power range

And coming to reliability and power consistency;
1. All Bajajs, till 2015, were good for the first 6 months. After that when it is started, the engine sounds as if some one is having a metal glass with a stone inside.
2. I have always raced with the Pulsars 150 and 180s - From a Signal stop and go, no way the Pulsars can catch me till I reach 80, then the engine dies off in my YBX. Only a brand new Pulsar was good off the start line. But a 6 months usage and there you feel a huge drop in Power in Pulsars
3. I have riden YBX, FZ, R15, Pulsar 150, 180 and NS200. Of all, for a long ride in Bangalore (in time and not distance) the Yamahas were most comfortable. NS200 was the least for me
4. I have seen a lot of Pulsars, whose tail mis-aligns from the center of the back wheel after sometime. But it remains at center for the Yamahas
5. Yamahas are for long time matured ownership, Bajaj is for the short time Adrenaline rush. I know a lot of Bajaj owners, who have moved to Yamaha or Honda after 2-3 years of Pusar ownership

And to all who are cribbing on the On-Paper power, please make a point that you are riding them on the regular roads and not free race tracks. You don't get a chance to slot into 5th gear so frequently in a city ride. Yamaha caters to the 80% intended use and rather than the 20% dream use

Hello bhpians,

Today I was called by the Yamaha showroom located in the city limits, for checking out the new FZ25. The vehicle looked awesome from every angle I looked. Here is what I felt about the bike after riding it for couple of KMS:

My two cents:
1. Brilliant low end torque and great thump of the vehicle
2. Powerful and impressive LED headlamp
3. Comfortable seating posture for city spins, don't know how it would ride on open highways and on long tours
4. Top notch paint job
5. Excellent display console with loads of features in it
6. Available in 3 sweet looking Colors
7. The cushioning on seats are awesome
8. OTR for Chennai is Rs 1,39,796 including couple of years extended warranty

The SA mentioned that the vehicle is readily available for delivery, but without registration. He also mentioned that any new bike model has to be approved the the respective transport commissioner of the city or state before the vehicle can be registered with RTOs. I was also informed that dealers across Chennai are allotted two display vehicles and around 8 vehicles allotted for deliveries slated to start by the 3rd week of March.

Spot on! I have owned 6 motorcycles including Enfield, two generations of Karizmas/zmr, a Pulsar 200NS and Honda CBR250R.

The points you have said is absolutely correct. All my bikes have seen a minimum usage of 35000 km(in 3 years avg), except 200 NS which just saw 9000 km in 3 years!! Reason- it was the least comfortable bike I have ever owned. And the engine note after 6 months feels irritating.

Default Re: Yamaha teases new naked motorcycle. EDIT: FZ25 launched at Rs. 1.20 lakh

I had a small test ride of this bike. Initial punch is as similar as the CBR-250R and rest of the things are pretty similar to what the FZ-150 has, which is very good in my view. Assured & sure footed handling, very good brakes, nice bassy exhuast [keeping in mind, it is a 250cc air cooled engine].

It will eat the CBR 250R as far as handling, braking & ergonomics go. No two ways, that in a straight line, the 250R will leave it behind, or with a [very] gifted rider, the 250R might inch ahead on corners. I should be getting it by this Wednesday.

The R3's normal headlamps appear more powerful than this LED unit.

Well, busted gaskets, valve replacements, frequent adjusting of chain is the order of the day for few manufacturers and still few people appear happy with it

Kawasaki Z-250 wasn't available, else might have given it a thought or the G310R. Heck, if I could be sure, that I would be going out on rides frequently, the R3 in black would have been in my garage.

I personally do not think, I would be buying bikes over 500cc. They are too cumbersome to throw around.

It seems to be a very good option for city and occasional highway usage. Sad they are not giving ABS even as an option.

How is the riding posture, straight or with a slight bend like FZ15?
