Default Help me choose a bike!

Good folks, I am finally planning to go in for a new bike. I currently ride a Bajaj KB 100 RTZ, which was my first and only bike bought in 1990!

My kind of usage:
1) Short trips of about 1-1.5kms, but the number of trips would amount to about 40 or 50 in a day. You get the drift?

2) I dont want any of the heavy bikes.

3) Fuel efficiency, good suspensions, handling should be good/decent.

4) Price of the vehicle not to exceed 50k

I've test rode the HH Super Splendour and feel its pretty OK. Its got an electric start too.

Any suggestions on any other bike? Is the HH Super Splendour a problem free bike? I dont want to be lugging it to the mechanic every 15 days!

Thanks in advance folks

If you can get the Discover DTSi, it would be a very good bike at that price.

IF you want to go for a more economical bike, then the Platina would be superb.....

I tend to favour Bajaj bikes simply coz they are so much more innovative....

Super Splendor, Discover, Shine are good options. Test ride each of them to find out which one you feel is more comfortable and suits you more.

For sheer riding pleasure check out the Yamaha Gladiator. Dunno about shine but discover and Splendour cannot even come close to Gladiator!

but isnt the glady above this budget of 50k?
i see you will be doing 40-50 of those 1-1.5km rides! damm, u will be tired by the end of the day and may want a big which is good on torque and will require fewer gear shifts. - i recommend the shine and the Zeus (the latter is being sold with big discounts) and both are thousand of rupees cheaper than the glady.

Guys,

I am also considering going for the new bike. Till now, my folks own scooters (first bajaj chetak and now Kinetic Honda) and will be migrating to a bike from KH. I am looking for the 150cc bike (although the fuel economy is also important to me). I shortlisted Honda Unicorn and HH CBZ Extreme. A few qurestions about these bikes.

Is new HH CBZ extreme a good alternative considering the fuel efficiency and owenership cost( No doubt the HH service centre network is good)

Does the single shock in the unicorn at the rear give the smooth ride for the rear passenger?

Also whats the fuel efficiency of the 150 cc and 125 cc bike in the city like mumbai?

Please help guys.

Thanks,
Amit.

@GTS - All the 150 CC bikes are above 50k budget.

I think you need to test drive the following bikes before deciding..

Bajaj - Discover DTSi (125CC) / Platina 100 CC / CT100

Hero Honda - Splendor + / Super splendor

Yamaha - Libero / Gladiator

But if you already have Hero Honda on your minds. Please go infor the super splendor.

Regards
