On 28 August I had emailed Marushin Helmets, Japan, asking if they sell them in India in the Daijya brand. I hadn't received any reply from them all these days and i had though that they wouldn't care to reply. But today as i checked my email i was happy to see their reply. And i am happy that i hadn't bought one till now

I'm told that Marushin helmets are being sold in India as Daijya helmets. I would like to confirm this from Marushin Japan that these Daijya helmets are indeed made by Marushin helmets and meet safety norms. If Marushin helmets are not manufacturing this Daijya helmets then i would not want to buy it. I have read good reviews about Marushin helmets in some European sites.

If these Daijya helmets are authentic then why is it sold under a different brand name in India?

Kindly reply, your reply would help me make a correct decision.

this helmets is a illegal copy and a very cheap fake and has nothing to do with the original Marushin-Helmets. Not in safety and not in quality.

Is there any official word that these Daijya helmets are by Marushin?

If not then they cant take any action since its only through word of mouth at the best they can publish a advert in big dailies clarifying the rumors but then thats an un-necessary expense unless they are planning to launch in India

No there aint' no official words that Daijya are by Marushin.

But, Daijya is making an excellent ripoff of the Marushin, their graphics and even the shape of the shells are a perfect match..

Most owners when asked about the origin of Daijya helmets used to tell me about a Japanese connection. I think they were also grossly misinformed like me. Anyway i'm glad that i didn't pay pretty good sum for a ripoff product.. especially when imported AGVs and KBCs can be had for almost the same amount.

Hehehe..good question but i'm not sure mate. I have one btw But the good news is that i have seen GPR helmets in some south east bike forums too, so atleast it's not India specific.

I personally use a GPR too...., can't say much about whether its really really good or now, but it was the choice between either the GPR or the Indian AGV for my budget. Even the GPR guys don't have a website for themselves.

Usually a google search returns something like : This!

But I guess they are Thai company, quality is decent, ventilation almost works. Visor's are good too, I find that there's more visibility compared to the Indian AGV due to a larger visor area. But I do get a little sideways movements in crosswinds or overtaking trucks. etc at speeds excess of 125! :(

Disclaimer : havent read the whole thread.

Have a ~3 year old AGV lid + a 4KG odd leather jacket as riding gear. weight of the jacket will triple when soaked :@ both of them have saved my hide many times

Planning to get a shoei, arai or suomy lid soon to replace the ageing AGV

Vega would be a better choice, as the spares are easily available unlike Studds. You could check out Vega Boolean (Rs.1.8K), which is India's first dual visor helmet. The second visor is actually something like goggles on the inside controlled by a lever on the leftside. You can flip up the chin to make it an open face, like the Studds Ninja too. All spares, including levers&both visors are available.

I would suggest you look at the AGV from MPA and make sure you buy a snug fitting helmet that doesn't move around. A helmet that fits poorly can be as bad as not wearing one in a crash.

They are both horrible IMO. They just have good graphics and people get sucked into buying them. Both are made in Thailand. Like I always say, buy the most expensive helmet you can afford at the time.

As a rule of thumb, always look to buy the well known international brands or at least the AGV's from MPA.

i want lighter helmet about 500g

currently using Wrangler Gold Exclusive. it weighs around 1500g . I get neck pain & headache if i ride for long about 1 1/2 hrs using that.

How about offroad helmets which they use in motocross. I think they should be lighter for those offroad acivities. We could use goggles in place of windshields i think.

This morning, i accidentally tripped the helmet kept on the seat while fiddling with my jacket.
I am worried if this fall could have caused a damage requiring helmet replacement? There is no visible damage to the helmet though.

PS: The helmet is 6 months old.

I don't think you have to go for a replacement since the impact would not be huge.

guys ... i have a budget of 2k and am looking for a good looking and light helmet which can protect my head well.
info: i do only city driving(at max would go upto 100kmph).

Couldnt find any good branded helmet within my budget in this thread...other than the vega boolean..
I have a doubt on the boolean...Since i wear spectacles, will it be a comfortable fit when using the inner visors?

Also suggest if any other helmet fits my requirements..

Original AGV helmets are now available in India starting at Rs 7,599. They are being officially imported by MPA into the country (The same guys who are manufacturing AGV helmets in India in collaboration with AGV Italy). All options of visors are also available. The cheapest helmet at Rs 7,599 is the GP1R, then the K series, the rossi replicas, Stealth, S4, Longway, K3 , Blade, Blade LX, Planet etc
