Great finally bajaj launches the 220
with the fi engine.Bajaj has been doing this for while nowdays it launches its bike in the showroms directly without any offical launch .Although I have my apprehensions about the bike ,its launch has been delayed almost half a year due to teetthing problems , I supsect there is something fishy .it was reported that they were having problems with the fI engine.Bajaj have been known to do R&D on their customers in the past (ask me they used the first of a kind 3-speed automatic tranny for a scoot called saffire which they developed in conjunction with tokyo R&D .Now automatics are'nt absolutely cutting edge but normally for the amount of torque generated by 100cc scoots most manufacturers prefer a variomatic which is much simpler in construction .Bajaj for reasons known opted for the automatic tranny for this scoot saffire
and tii date I am not able to find its spares like the clutch plate which itself costs rs 800 for a set of two and is one of the most replaced parts of the vehicle .Bajaj mechanics fear to touch it because they think the tranny is too complicated.All my works are done by my local mechanic.
Now the point I am trying to make out is that however good the bike may be ,we don't know whether the fuel injection tech has been perfected or not so better wait and watch otherwise you would be seen more in the workshop than flaunting your new bike. I too liked that 220 when I first saw it and did not buy the 180 UG3 for the same but after my experiences with the scoot 3 cluctch plates in 4000km I am awiating the twister more eagerly or I may go for the 200 pulsar with carb but better looking than the 220.
It was good to hear about the apache with monoshock .wonder why th 220 doesn't have this as even the 150 uni even has this and having ridden one I know it makes quite a difference.

^^^ someone mentioned the pulsar's giving starting trouble in winter...mumbai winter. Man, wait till you see the trouble it gives in colder climes. I used to have a ball of a time getting it to start in Jabalpur during winters. And I'm talking with the kick
