Will it come branded as "JA Edition" ? If yes , there will be a hefty premium on it.

There's no such news..
Type JA, was just dont to accelerate the sales.
I dont think they shall have that for here,
I dont want it either, the bike simply rocks

But going by the dropping sales of yamaha, the company needs to market this bike properly or else it mite go unnoticed.

If this is true, it almost made my day

But, knowing Yamaha, it takes them ages to launch anything substantial. I have been reading about Fazer 250 more than since last 6 months and there is no new yet. Bajaj has already launched Pulsar 200 and it's out in the market.

Yamaha is Fiat of Indian 2-wheeler industry.

Its true, I have seen a poster of this in a yamaha showroom in december 2006. When enquired about it, the showroom owner (yes the owner was around, it was closing time) he said the yamaha in launching this is Feb or March, but i think it will take some more time. (I thought he was joking, because of the air scoop under the engine) and its going to be against pulsar 150 but the report says it as 165cc.

Do guys remember there was another bike with 165cc, the kinetic GF175 and laser models. I think it flunked because of the lack of brand image and there was no 165cc segment.

The yamaha has a better image but I am not sure about the 165cc category, but 16.5ps engine!!, it could be a potential compititor to pulsar 180cc. Again the pricing is going to decide. If it is priced below pulsar 180. That will dent the pulsar 180 sales figure. It may even enter the CBZ market.

Also there was another bike picture but a smaller one and he said that is yamaha's 250cc, and that will also be launched may in the year, but its launch depends on the success of the 150/165, because they should have enough support for the after sales service.

I have blind faith that Yamaha 165 cc (if it's launched in first place and if yes, at those specs) will be a better product than Pulsar 180cc in all respects except FE and VFM factor.

with projector lens and stuff would only make it costlier. Dont forget that P220 would be only 83k OTR! and this just makes 16.5.

last year when this was shown yamaha said it was just a prototype...emmm

I have been following Yam for quiet for sometime on the releases of these machines.
But what i am guessing that they maybe two editions coming outta Yam of the 165cc segment. The sporty one and the stock version.. not really sure on their names caz on AutoExpo i had seen the 2 version of these machines. Lets hope they will release it soon.

Ang regarding Fazer 250 . it will release by end of this year or early next year.

Btw : isnt that 165cc Yam better off a 250cc with its good sporty looks....?
