Default Need some help buying a 2nd hand Hero Honda Karizma...

guys the bike i have my eye fixed on is a 4month old karizma that i am scheduled to buy next week. Min reason for me to choose this bike, i.e. second hand is because this is used for only 4 months and the kid who is selling the bike is crazy after the pulsar 200 launched in hyderabad just a week ago. The kid is selling the bike for 35-40k only.

i have my own doubts about the bike and need some help in checking the bike before buying it, i need to justify the reason put forward by the kid for selling the bike.

i think this can only be done if i can check the bike thoroughly i need advice on things checkout on the bike..... please help...

Kid selling it?30-45K?
Karizma's sold(second-hand/atleast more than 6months old) here cost 55-60+k
find out the reasons why he is selling it for such low price.Do ask around(shops selling second's bikes) how much, since HH bikes have really good resale value,30-45K is a steal mate.
Do check
1)clean papers.
2)any cases pending on it.(might have involved in accident, some sell it off quickly)
3)how much kms clocked
4)engine(most kids rip their new bikes without proper run-in)

Yup, it smells fishy.

35-40k seems far too low for a 4 month old bike. Check the tyres, and rev the engine. The Karizma engine should rev very very smoothly for about 5000 - 6000 rpm before sounding slightly harsh. There does not seem to be too much difference between the 200 and the Karizma, another reason for the smell.

Absolutely! Unless you wish to become a statistic.

Like others have said...do check everything before jumping in. Please mention how many kms the bike has run. It is incredibly difficult to find a properly maintained used Karizma because the spares are priced extremely high. I've come across plenty of "kids" wanting to change to another bike within 6 months so I am not too surprised at the reason for selling the bike so soon.

If, however, the bike is clean and mechanically sound then close the deal at that price as soon as you can.

@ariendj: I dont know what the scene is down south but here in Delhi you could get a 3 year old Karizma at 45-50K with probably less mileage.

@ariendj:way too much.I have seen 2008 ZMA's displayed for sale at 55K.In my place ,ZMAs and Pulsars are not getting good 2nd hand prices.I think this is the scenario in most places in Kerala.
A 2006 zma may be worth 30-35K maximum.

Among the mileage conscious(and a little power) customers, ZMA's are out of the list. But P150s are getting good prices.
