What colour are you buying it in?

Personally I think the Suzuki B-King looks better.

Nice design. Sticks with the original basics, with the modern suspension that it was lacking.

Things I love:
- The headlight design
- The wheels
- The Scoops
- the ducktail
- The end cans
- radial brakes

What I don't like:
- The look of the engine from the left of the bike. Those cylinders looks mighty skinny and there is too much of a gap between the engine and frame. Makes it look a bit weak.
- the radiator and oil cooler look like they were added on at the last minute

For 20 years Yamaha engineers didn't make any major changes to it's design... it has some negative issues eg. handling and engine heat but guess they just don't wanna spoil a bike which was still a best seller for 2 decades. It IS one of it's kind. The torque and the character nothing can compare to this classic, but a Vmax is a VMax is a VMAX! The only bike I know that has a 20year production run.

One of the inherent problems of this bike is the not so sturdy frame, The power is incredible. It ain't called the "widowmaker" for nothing. 1200cc's of pure muscle on a carbureted V-4, with V-Boost at 6000 rpm at the tiniest twist of the wrist.

Its a dragster with weak brakes and found the bike heavy and unresponsive, especially in the twisties. I guess you can attribute that to the drag type handlebar.

Our own Bullet 350 STD has been in production for much more than that

Awesome Man. I remember being totally blown when I saw the V-Max on the cover of Cycle World sometime in the 80's. Nearly bought one a few years ago but got worried by strong rumors that Yamaha was planning to phase it out. Reconsidered buying a pre-owned a few months back but learnt that its handling was atrocious. Good to know that its still alive and kicking and hopefully they have worked around the handling issues now.

for starters, this is a v-engine layout, whereas the r1 is an inline four.

Whow mama..! Fake RAMAIR scoops, petal rotors, six pot callipers, shaft drive, smoked lamps and friggin' quad-exhausts..??

One better not see this coming in the RVM...definitely not for the weak-hearted...

But like v1p3r said...B-king's, well...the king...just wish that turbo'd busa powertrain would make it into production...
