Default Suzuki is coming!

Bikers,

Just heard that Suzuki is planning to enter the Indian bike market independently by the third quarter of this year. They will be starting with a 125 cc bike, but are also reported to be the first one planning to introduce 400 / 600cc bikes.

Suzuki is the third Japanese entrant to come independently into the Indian bike market after Honda and Yamaha.

but i feel when everyone is shifting towards 150+cc ,mabbe suzuki is a bit late .
as the 125cc already has established players like the Discover, the ambition (135cc).
whereas the 150cc has only the Unicorn .Mabbe the pulsar 150 is selling to those who cannot wait for the 5 months for unicron.
others like the CBZ and the Fiero are just too old.
so mabbe the 150cc wud have been a better bet for Suzuki.

i doubt they'll bring the limited edition but yeah it cud be limited to 200 kph, the riders then will have to ride the bike only in 1st & 2nd gear LOL ( if u dont know it does ~150kph in 1st gear )

btw just for the info, this is an old news, here's an extract from the new article

[size=1]TIMES NEWS NETWORK[ MONDAY, OCTOBER 18, 2004 01:15:13 AM ]
NEW DELHI: The countdown has begun for the launch of Suzuki motorcyles in India. The Japanese auto major has kicked off the ground work for its entry into world’s second largest two-wheeler market by Diwali next year. Suzuki will enter Indian market with a 125cc segment motorcycle and expects to sell around one lakh vehicles in first full year of its production.

Sources say the launch time-table has frozen and is now being circulated to the various interested parties including its proposed vendor base. The production and testing of components is expected to begin in a phased manner starting January next year.

“The whole project has been divided into various milestones and the reverse counting has begun for the people associated with it,” said a source close to the development.

According to industry sources the technical specification of the proposed vehicle is now ready. The company is now learnt to be working with its vendors for developing and manufacturing the parts and systems of the proposed vehicle in India.

The auto major learnt to have finalised the supplier base for its two-wheeler venture. “The major vendors have already been selected. Many of them have even begun the preparatory work for manufacturing the parts specified by Suzuki,” says a source in the auto component industry.

Simultaneously, construction has begun at Suzuki’s proposed two-wheeler facility at Manesar in Haryana. The plant with a capacity to produce one lakh vehicles initially is expected to be ready for commercial production by the third quarter of next fiscal.
Suzuki is the third Japanese two-wheeler major after Yamaha and Honda to make a direct entry into India. Earlier, Suzuki was present in India by way of a joint-venture with TVS group, which ended unceremoniously in September ‘01. Under its separation agreement with TVS, Suzuki has to wait out its “30-month cooling off period” till March ‘04 before debuting in India’s two-wheeler market.

Earlier last year, Suzuki had acquired land in Manesar for its two-wheeler facility. The Japanese company has obtained the Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) approval for $10m (Rs 47 crore) to set up a facility and has also obtained the green signal to either go it alone or acquire an Indian partner.
