| Hey guys .... Great news .... I have finally booked a blue Avenger 200 today at Bajaj Probiking, Adyar, Chennai !!! I am so excited ..... hopefully by this time next week I should have the bike at home !! Meanwhile calls are already being received for my CBZ which is on sale now. That optional windshield is so tempting ..... it was fitted on the grey Avy 200 in the dyno room and looked so good. I am very tempted to have that fitted to the bike, though it does look a bit too big. However I would like to know what you all feel about the windshield on the Avenger 200. How many of you think that it really adds to the looks of the bike ..... and how many advise against getting the windshield ???? Reasons for the same would also be appreciated !!! Regards, Venkat |

| Hay mate , Congratulations on the new bike..... And about the windshield , If you are going to do some highway cruising your stability goes for a big toss , and when scratched (which it defiantly will) it will affect your night vision ... So, for practicality reasons , i think you should ditch the windshield . |

| Hey guys .... thanks for your replies ..... I found the picture of V12's Eliminator which I had saved in my computer some time back and it has a very nice windshield fitted. I wonder whether this one came with the bike when it was sold or whether it was an after market fitment. Any thoughts on this ? Please do let me know if I can get this kind of windshield to fit on my Avenger ..... it looks better than the windshield being offered as an option by Bajaj now. And the Bajaj one costs around 2200 bucks I think. Here's the picture of V12's superb Eliminator ...... |

| Aadix ..... thanks for the info. Now there is no chance of me getting that kinda windshield from Opera House , Mumbai (I don't even know where it's located though my sis might know since she stays in Thane). Seriously the windshield on V12's Eliminator looks superb compared to the one offered by Bajaj. Some pics of the Avenger with the Bajaj windshield are included at the bottom of this message ..... Now I'd like to know from someone in Chennai whether this kind of windshield would be available in Chennai and where I can get it ..... The one offered by Bajaj looks too big and seems like a wall. It is sure to affect mileage and top speed, even though I know for sure that I won't rid the bike at the top speed of 110 or 115 kmph or whatever. I prefer relaxed cruising. Probably the max I'd do is around 80-85 kmph, where the road conditions permit. Another question ..... if I fit 150/80 15-inch tubeless tyre at the rear on alloys, would it affect the performance of the bike ? Or should I stick to 140/90 - either MRF Zapper Q or TVS Tyres ? And for the front, is it impossible to upsize the tyre to 100/90 or 100/80 17-inch ? One of my friends said that 100/90 for the front may touch the mudguard ..... so he suggested trying a lower profile tyre like 100/80. Looking forward to your inputs on all of the above everyone ..... thanks again. Last edited by adya33 : 23rd March 2008 at 14:17. |

| Senior - BHPian | vsg12777 please drop the idea of tyres for now! you are thinking too much please take this in the good sense and forget the idea of the tyres for now. the stock do a really good job! if its for the looks then i suggest you ride for atleast 20-25K Kms and then think of some thing for the tyres! as i already dont go for the alloys on this baby, it wont suit all that well, and the rims really make the bike look good and classic! more over if the fitting of the alloys is not done properly then you will have GOOD load of problems with the BRAKES especially the disk! do the other cosmetic works if you will, but see to it that it does not come in the bike's mechanicals in any way! (EX: a good example is you trying to get a fatter front tyre might just mess up the handling/braking if not correct, so keep things like this in mind before you invest/spend.) |

| Rider60, Advice taken for now. However fellow BHPian JKDAS has fitted 140/90 MRF Zapper Q to the rear of his Avy 180 and says it's really good. The front tyre remains the same. Maybe I will go in for this at a later point of time. However I definitely want to do something about the windshield. Anyone knows where I can get a suitable more compact windshield for the Avy 200 ? I'd also want to get a Pulsar horn fitted. Not the P220's horn, since it has DC elecricals. Probably one of the lower Pulsars' (150/180/200) horns. This I suppose can be purchased from Bajaj itself. Lastly I would like to get either good seat covers or some extra foam to improve seating comfort for the pillion rider. Thoughts on how to improve the pillion seat comfort are welcome guys. |

| Senior - BHPian | well be warned the battery is exide, and the horns you are looking at are pulsars 150/180 they are way powerful ones than the 200's so if you are good horn user then the battery life is substantially reduced. however you still want one then get them from local market, they are MINDA make and should roughly cost you 300 a pair! if you buy them from the spares they cost more! and dont forget to get a good branded relay like the one from the roots or PMP! seats windshield you can hunt the local market. the seat covers can even be custom made by the local seat cover shop so end less combinations there so choose your pick! |

| Done then, Rider60. I shall start hunting tomorrow itself for the seat covers / foam / padding, horns and particularly the windshield. Hope to post the pictures of the bike before adding all this and after. That would be good. ![]() |
