Yes and its an inline-4. I like how it looks. Hopefully it stays that way into production. I'm sure it'll have a hefty price tag and the performance better keep up with all that money u spend buying it ! The existing super sport boxer (hp2) sells for 24000USD! Any guesses how much this'll run?!

There is no information on the commercial launch yet.

There is a rumor of 190bhp engine and weigh 190kg (too heavy for an SBK). Let us wait for the official tech spec release.

Although I would love the production version to look like this..theres no way in hell they are gonna let that happen. I'm sure those side view mirrors are gonna go for one thing.

Make mouth water by the way it looks. Honda-ish but much better looks.

Actually it looks like a cross between a Honda Yamaha and a Ducati.

Looks good. (dumb question) Is it their first inline attempt?

I used to dislike the design of their 90 and 180 degree twins.

No ironwolf they already have inline engines. The K series in BMW's are Inline engines. Example BMW Motorcycles: Bikes: K 1200 R Sport

The F800 is their parallel twin (really versatile and great city + touring bike).
BMW Motorcycles: Bikes: F 800 S

and the rest ofcourse are boxer twins (horz. opposed)

Heh, BMW will likely be backmarkers for quite some time to come. I wonder why they couldnt summon the courage to take a leap into motoGP, probably because then they would get lapped twice per race!

I will wait patiently for the web community to pass comments about how the German company is copying the Japanese, oh wait.....you mean they won't?!

Good luck to them.

Yamaha R1 is the bike which came to my mind when I saw this conception.

190 hp and 190 Kg, these figures look like street numbers rather than those for the racing.

May be they are accordingly to the race regulations. Does any one has any info on the regulations for 2009??

raj.

Japan, Sweden, Italy have all been there and done that. I'd have thought more of the brand if they'd stood and held their ground of antedeluvian-yet-full-of-character boxers, and category-defying singles, twins etc. Their inline four didn't unseat the Samurai who did everything it attempted and far better. They didn't cost the earth, too.

The Duke approach is more like it. They've evolved their desmo twins and managed to push the envelope without doing an image and positioning remap -an exercise that could proved VERY expensive in brand perception terms. Most they've done is fiddle with an exotic V-4, but it's so esoteric (and expensive), it's never going to be seen as other than boutique/maverick, and therefore is unlikely to derail their mainstream, mass-market offerings.
Having said (all) that, it's a free world and the Huns are welcome to play their game the way they choose.

Now the rant's over, I think the BMW bears more than a little likeness to the KTM (RC8?).

Looks sweet. Hope this bike makes BMW pay little more attention to 2 wheels.

Default BMW SBK at 24hours of Le Mans

Hi, the BMW SBK prepared by Alpha Technic, it will partecipate to the endurance race 24 hurs of Le Mans (90% sure) and they are at a hi step of preparation for the SBK 2009.
The weigh 195kg is with the fuel (gasoline) in, so the wegh it will be around 170Kg, and it's very good for a V4.
Here is a photo of the bike that will race the Le Mans.
