Sankar Sorry to hear about your crash.... it just reminded an old biker saying, "Wear out, crash out, burn out,... never rust out"..

Coming back to the mods..

Removed the Snorkel. the intake sound is up
Low end is bad, mid range is OK. Top end is bad. (Bike tops out at 115).
Changed the stock paper filter to a DIY UNI foam filter setup.

CHanged the rear to a Michelin M45 4*18.

@sankar: the foam that i got from UNI, is a Sheet type filter and i got about 3 pairs of fitlers( 8.5CM *11CM) each.

Wondering about the carbs now. I have a BS34 available to me at very decent price(read about 2k). What are the jetting options for that ?

Here are a few pics.

The day engine opened.. i was like.. how can this engine even run!!

After a good polishing and the new valves

Another ZMA is being built as a cafe racer.. the half naked bike looks neat.. stripping her completely will be more fune though.

Jetting has to be done by trial and error. All i can say now is identify all the jets and the needle position and note it down. Run the carb on the bike as you get it and then make judgements wrt jetting.

Regarding the BS34, i say if you have a choice get a flat slide 30mm/32mm it will be more than enough and with a correctly dialed in flatslide on this motor the acceleration can be quite addictive even without any other engine mods. Too bad i couldn't enjoy it for long.

The Stock airbox with UNI panel was good for the bike with mildly upjetted stock carb (at Sea level where i tested).

Couldn't see the pics yet. I guess its pending approval.

I took off today and took my bike to Lalbagh Road for completing the modifications, photoshopped the mod ideas and also did a few trials with Karizma headlight without fairings. Finally convinced myself and decided to get the things done by a professional. After some research on where to go zeroed down to Mototracks near the Masjid on Lalbagh Road. The owner Sohail is a a nice guy and is open to discussion about modifications. The things I had in mind were changing to FZ headlight, FZ handle, K&N air filter, Iridium spark plugs, mono suspension. I dropped the idea of mono suspension (quoted Rs.5000) to decide later and went ahead with other works. The shop owner gets the work done by a local mechanic and fitment charges are extra. The pictures are here, initially thought of removing meter as there was no proper place to fit but then worked out an idea and got it fitted back. It costed me 7000 including fitment charges and very happy with the work done. There is so much weight reduction at the front and bike is more balanced than earlier and I feel it easy to handle on curves. The shop owner was probably lucky as when I was about to leave a person came in search of fairings for his Karizma and then decided to go for a similar modification

Aditya, thanks for putting up the prices in Hyderabad. I am a poor bargainer, the price breakup is as below
FZ Handle and balancers- 300
FZ Headlight - 1350 (showed 2 variety)
K&N R-1100 - 2450
NGK Iridium Spark Plug - 550
Silicone plug Cord ( With warranty) - 1150
Stickering/Console repair(was not working)/Side Indicators/Clamps/Other hardware - 150
Fitment charges extra plus VAT
The overall finish of work is good.

Aditya can u please confirm the price for conversion to mono suspension and projector headlamps in Hyderabad

i was quoted Rs.5000 for mono suspension and Rs.4800 to 6400 for projector headlights.
Thanks in advance

Deehunk man amazing you are that you paid that much for such a small work but then again if that seems all good to you its all good then.

Regarding Mono suspensions you can expect that much of money but with extreamly good JOB and Projector seems fine for arond 5K which would be Hella Projector same as the ones used on MERCS and BMW's and this should include the HID and fitting.

@Deehunk
Install the K&N inside the Airbox, and remove its cover, its much safer that way,as it is protected from water.I have a similar set up on mine since 4+ years now
Try and find a suitable main jet, mine is running on 140 main jet.

Hi Akshay,
Do you know of a mechanic who can do something similar to a Karizma around Chandigarh or Ambala?
I would appreciate the help as I too have a Karizma which is gathering dust because of the rattling front fairing . I don't ride much but I would love to make my bike more fun!
Thanks.

P.S.- Sorry for barging in on the thread

Hi Raul,
Welcome onboard.. most of the things can be done by yourself.

There are 4 bolts that hold the fairing in place. remove them and the fairing is out.

Let me know if you would need any kind of tech help with the zma.. as it is gurudev(sankar) is there to guide us aall
