Had been to a Yamaha showroom today (in Hubli) mornin to enquire about the price. The dealer said no information has come from the company on pricin front, but expect it to be between 70K-85K on road.
Edit: We can book the bike for 10K.

Delivery'll commence only at month end or October.

Default King of the Street? Get real.

It is a very good looking bike no doubt, but it's got plastic everywhere. The fuel tank that is visible is actually made of three parts. The centre black panel housing the fuel filler lid is made of metal. The painted designer bulges are tank shrouds (plastic) bolted onto the metal tank, which is a pretty small one at 12 litre. The so called air-scoop below the fuel tank hides the puny single down tube of the frame. It is actually a puny bike blown up with plastic, reminded me of Vadivelu in Kaadhalan!

It is an imitation Fazer, Delhi make, with a diamond frame; the real ones abroad sport the Y frame which lends it the characteristic handling. This is just another one in the current crop of 150cc bikes. Calling this one the Lord of the Streets is an overkill. It won't sell for just its looks; Yamaha in India is notorious for its poor quality, service backup and spares availability. Only time will tell.

No doubt its styling is in a different league altogether, and I wanted to buy one for myself on an impulse the minute I saw the pics. It's reasonably priced too, 65-70K. But hey, I would any day get myself the unpretentious 'Made in India' RTR than the 'Made for India' imitation Fazer. Thanks for doing us the favour!

The FZ16 is in my opinion the best buy in India at the minute. Looking at the practicality of owning one, it just pipped my previous favourite the CBF Stunner. It there is 1 bike i would plonk my hard earned money on, then its going to be this one

Its on display at Perfect Motors Lalbaag Road. They have the Black one.
If we can decide on buying a bike just on the look and seer road presense, then the FZ16 is the best choice we have.......

Regarding other qualities we have to wait for the TD. Surprisingly the delivery is stated to start only in October and again surprising no immediate TD available.

I dont understand these Yamaha people. They said that R15 has all the best and latest sportsbike technology and yet stuff like radial tires and 41 mm forks are on the cheaper FZ but not of R15 !!!

The R15 has barely sold. Not enough to pay all the salaries in Yammie. They need some good MBAs - they're plugging the wrong segment first
There is not much money to be made in 100cc. 125 and 150 are the fastest growing segment (executive) and Yamaha is right on target.

Yes Yamaha is right on target but I think they could do better on the pricing and after sales support. They should also get some bigger engines on their bikes
