A friend of mine who is a bullet fanatic was travelling to Heathrow when he found that the person sitting with him was Mr. Ravichandran, CEO of Enfield India.

Invariable the talk turned to the Classic and its availability in India, but my friend says that the CEO was very clear about the fact that the vehicle WILL NOT be available in India, even when my friend insisted that he wants one and will be willing to pay for it anywhere in the world as long as he has the bike delivered in India.

My poor friend had no idea about the alleged pricing, though - when I asked him if he's nuts to pay 5,000 pounds sterling he nearly spat his beer out!

Some sightings have been mentioned by folks in Chennai. Are the great folk at the RE factory thinking of us yet?

Checked. Thanks for the link.

So its going to be the TBTS engine with the Classic tank and side panels.

We dont get the 500 engine made for the europeans and neither the improved suspension and bits.

I thought the 500 engine on the european Classic held the most appeal on this model.

So actually its a cosmetic job on the TBTS to look like the Classic.

GRRRR..... RE YOU ARE PATHETIC.

some one i know through forums recently rode a twin spark 350 in classic trim, and it might be launched soon.
i think classic would be offered in 350 engine trim to keep costs down.
According to RE official 500 FI might be launched by year end

We are missing the point here arent we?

They are going to charge a premium for it - to cash on the "Classic" hype (literally).

Why pay a premium for a bike that has the same engine available otherwise with cosmetic bits only.

RE is taking the Indian consumer for a ride.

they have always taken us for a ride
by offering better product overseas.
yes it will be sold at premium over the regular TBTS

Gosh, you can get any of the RE bikes in their current stable to look like "classic", just need few outer body mods.

Unless you are specific about the UCE.

Come on, don't get sucked into this hype - and don't make the RE guys feel like they are kings ruling over stupid Indian public who will lap anything up in the name of classic bullet.

Wait and watch the craze for it.

I am waiting to see whether its just a cosmetic job or something more.

I know i am going to be dissappointed but then i am an eternal optimist.

With the Bullet, it is either you love it or hate it. Well, I don't hate it, that's all. Before I get sermons about the ride qualities of a Bullet, let me inform all that the Bullet, Yezdi and the Raj Doot were the only bikes available during my student days and I have done my fair share of riding on all three of them. The Yezdi (Jawa) was the one I liked best. Just imagine, it was the only bike that had inter changeable front and back wheels. The Raj Doot "Bobby" was the other one, it even had a stepney, but rode on scooter wheels.

The ride quality of the Bullet feels good, but the QC is non-existent, and in my book no amount of ride comfort or nostalgia can compensate for that. I have seen bikes just a couple of months old with oil leaks underneath. I know, because we used to buy them by the dozens till very recently for our marketing reps as they had to commute 100s of KM every day. Most of them were unhappy and wanted Pulsars/Karizmas, but our company mandarins will not listen.

Ah... so there are more folks out there who are on the same lines as me.

@Gansan: Did you ever try talking to RE about this directly, i understand you folks buy bikes in bulk from them.

I did a bit from my end to crap about their quality. But nothing happened.
