Have you ridden it yet?
I dont think that performance figures are out yet.

Biking is not about plug and play.

Get the bike. Understand how she moves. What aspect you would like changed. Then go ahead with it. You don't even have the bike with you and already want to increase performance.

For your questions. Try the K&N website. You might find the model that would match your bike. I strongly advise against this as the dusty conditions of our roads will not help the filter.
About Halogens. check out the Lighting thread for more info.

Hi Siddarth, congratulations on being amongst the first few to book the FZ16.
Once you get your bike, ride it in stock form for a while to get to know what is missing and what would you want more out of it . Thats when you would be truly able to judge what you want to buy.

Just my point of view.

edit: Completely agree with you bblost, you posted while I was typing my post

Leave the airfilter at stock. FZ-16 produces only 13.5bhp which is nothing much to rave about

Congrats siddharthdas on booking FZ-16, its one nice looking bike.
And any Yamaha is fine with me

Bike=Yamaha (This is IMO, please no brick bats)

I agree with sammyboy and bblost.
First get her and ride her a bit, get at least 2 Services done.

Then start thinking about and mods even an air filter.
And just plonking in a new higher power bulb will in most cases just "fry" the wiring.

congratulations on the new bike siddharthdas. you have got yourself the best looking naked bike on the indian road. i would agree with sammyboy and bblost on this. keep the bike stock for atleast the run in period. then think over the modifications.as for the halogen bulbs, they are handy but you havent seen the quality of your bike's headlamp so wait till you get the bike. i think the headlight should be good enough.anyways its never good to play with the electricals when the bike is new.airfilter should follow atleast after 1000 km as till then you will know how much more you want from the stock bike. congratulations again and good luck to you and your new yamaha. happy riding

Hey dude even i have booked a fz 16.My advice to you is leave it stock for few months and then decide whether to put air filter or not.Im planning to leave it stock except for the headlight.Im planning to put HID bulb which costs about 3k in Bangalore.

Just plonking a K&N will make it lean ,reducing engine life.It takes a lot of experience to get the jetting correct on it.A compression bump will take the power up on the bike quite a bit.Again takes a expert to set up.Like it has been posted run it stock for some time ,like about 5000km .
cheers

are you sure of the road condintions in TVM (assumuing usage is in TVM)?
i think the dust is far lower than you expect generally. Not at all comparable with Hyd conditions.

siddharthdas, i think a better filter will give you an added performance/response. check out the R15 thread where cochin guys have added new filter and they may be able to help you out in model number etc.

Now this FZ, is it basically a punched out Gladi engine or is it all new.

Sorry if I asked the same question already.

Always wanted to ask this.

Saw the bike last week. The tires though 140, are of low profile and road huggy type. I feel it wont hurt the performance of the bike much. The 140 I have in my Avenger looks (and is) far bigger/heavier than what this bike has.
