Default Problem with my Std 350

Hi,
Last week I changed the Handlebar and Silencer of my STD 350. I previous had a Company Fitted Silencer (the long bottle one). I have changed it to a Short Bottle One (VMMK Chennai one).

Since the time that I have made this change the bike stops while idling and stops even while riding. Its like the bike is not getting enough fuel and when I accelerate the bike shuts off. This is happening frequently. Earlier this problem was not there.

As I have changed the silencer, should I get some tuning done of the carb? Also sometimes there are loud noises coming from the silencer (like a bomb bursting).

Please suggest. I will be taking the bike to my mechanic once he is back from his home town.

Regards,
Subu.

Seems like a carb issue. You'll either have to richen the mixture or upjet.

You need to tune the carb. Its not getting enough fuel hence the bursts.

This steed gave way to LB500 in my stable.

Yes it is machismo 4s and it is stock. Machismo AVL 4s was stopped in some 2004/05. AFAIK it is the only right shift model in AVL 350 series (other one is lightening with 535 cc AVL engine and harricane was never for public prodution)

GrayBerry.
How many kms its done? What mieleage you are getting?

Lightning with 535cc AVL? AFAIK there was never a 535cc AVL, let alone a Lightning AVL.

Alok:
I did not have enough knowledge on enfields back in 2001. Just walked into a showroom in Bangalore and got my bike,. If it was today, I would have asked for a 500 Std CI with point start, it has always been my dream bike.
It is not that I am not happy with my bike,. as I said, I have always enjoyed my bike.
I have done about 52K KMs,. my mileage in cities is about 42 and on highways about 45, on one trip it averaged out to 47.

Feeling proud to be associated with RE. It was my first ride and it still rides. I also feel lucky to ride a RE because RE is the only bike which has the immortal respect amongst the Indian riders since decades and proud to have two of the immortal icons with me. 1962 Royal Enfield sharing space with my Jawa and the 2008 Bullet.
