The new Karizma R has an extra set of clutch plates. This is not first hand info, i've been told it has. The new Karizma R is to be filled with 10W30 engine oil, where as the old one takes 20W40 grade oil.

Other than the cosmetic stuff i don't think there's any difference, except maybe the clutch.

Edit: The power as given by the HH in the spec sheet is same for Karizma and it's R version.

Don't believe anything you read in Orkut!

Though a few things are supposed to be different in the ZMA R.

1. Its supposedly more fuel efficient than the older ZMA and this at no loss of performance over the older model.

2. The cam tenshioner issue of the older ZMA has been completely sorted out in the ZMA R.

3. Its got stickers that make it go faster <kidding! >

Prakash, Eyeing the Zma it seems.
As has already been mentioned, nothing much has changed on the Zma least of all power. Only the cosmetic part has changed.

Oh-kay. Here goes.

Here're the Karizma "Type R" changes over the old ZMA.

Cosmetic :

1) New graphics (stickers, for y'all).
2) Speedo console background in yellow.
3) Key fob different.
4) Grab rail black.
5) Belly Pan/Cowl.
6) Option of red Enkeis on the black ZMA R.
7) Newer shades, including a better/darker silver one.

Engine :

1) Muffler Assembly is slightly different. Different flute design inside, and the exhaust mount at the right rear footpeg end & front mount has thicker welds.
2) No changes to the clutch plates. Both run a set of 5 friction plates. But then, this was from an old dismantled Type R. Dunno about now. Shall check.
3) The oil filter element is said to be of a finer mesh. Cannot verify pore radii. So dunno about that either.
4) The cam chain tensioner is of the same design. Except perhaps of better quality.
5) I'm told that CDI mapping at closed throttle has been changed to improve cold starts; no way to check/verify that either.

Apart from the above mentioned, there have been no other mods. Visible or otherwise. In terms of power, zilch. But there's a definite improvement in throttle response upto 2.5K RPM. Other than that....

Amongst competition ZMA has one of the best re-sale values.

I too doubt the different handle bar thing but you never know.

Sankar: The handle bar might not be good for track & street racing purpose but is excellent for touring as it gives you a very relaxed riding posture

That is correct. It is very comfortable on long rides.

But just for the looks sake i was thinking of replacing it with the FZ handle bar alongwith the enticer's handle bar clamps so that the height doesn't drop too much.
