Hi,
How much can I expect for a 36000 kms done Honda Activa 2004 single owner. I wouldn't say the vehicle is well maintained atleast on the exteriors. Both the tyres need to be changed.
Pls advice me on the price that I can expect as I am planning to exchange this for another scooter.

Hello Smrtdvl,

Hope you know that Honda Activa has a low resale values.

You can expect Rs. 18,000 to Rs. 20,000 for 2004 your Honda which has done 36,000 & needs tyres change.

Hello,

You cna expect approx Rs. 40,000 for your April 2008 Honda Unicorn with 40,000 km on ODO. Also for your information, Honda Unicorns are in very high demand in used bike market.

@ Jignesh: All dealers are quoting between 25-30 K. I think Unicorns are also high in supply. Hence the resale price is low....I may be wrong

That is very true with dealers. They will offer you price in range of Rs. Rs. 27,000 to Rs. 30,000 & then sell the Bike for Rs. 37,000.

Try to find a direct buyer & you will surely get something more than Rs. 35,000.

Thanks,

How much should I expect for my 2010 June Thunderbird TS in Delhi NCR?

14k kms on the odo. Driven outside town for touring only.

All parts changed OEM (airfilter, oilfilter, chain set) with complete service record.

Excellent condition bike if I may use the term

Default Help solicited - Used Bajaj Avenger

Hello all,

I am in the process of purchasing a used Bajaj Avenger as most of my friends own one and have been influencing me to go for one. Though I have a P150 dtsi 2004 model I have decided to get an avenger and then maybe decide on Pulsar. The situation is this:

The details of Avenger that I met today are below:

Price : Quoted 24k and came down to 22k (I've asked for 18k)
Insurance : Nil
Year : 2006 dtsi
Color : Silver
Owners : Single
Mileage : Says 13982 kms (I am sure this is not true)
Electrical : All works except the tail/stop lamp (there is no fuel indicator???)

Mechanical glitches:

1. All chromed parts except exhaust needs replaced or re-spray
2. Fork cone set needs replacement or tightened
3. Handlebar or fork is bent
4. There is an amplified tick tick noise on top portion of engine. No noticeable oil leaks on head or gear side. (I hope it is just tappet adjustment (any pointers here???)
5. There is no smoke from exhaust either at idle, low RPMs or even when the bike was taken upto 60kmph. But at idle when I gave full throttle smoke came out from exhaust. Not sure of the color as it was late in the evening. (Again, I just hope it is excess fuel due to improper carb tuning. If it is due to worn rings or so, I should see little and/or noticeable amount of smoke from exhaust at all times + oil spots on exhaust tip if the owner was riding in the same condition, right? Any relation between points 5 and 4?)
6. Lock set needs replacement
7. There is a dent on the tank and lightly rust at one end

I know the above might set me back by about 10k (if engine needs some work) else a mere 2k would be sufficient enough I guess.

8. When I was about to finalize the deal, my friend asked me "what if this is a stolen bike?" I was totally zapped by this. The guy who brought the bike says his friend gave him the bike and left to Mumbai for job. Now that he is also leaving chennai, he is looking to sell it off. I saw the RC and it was genuine (single owner) and he also had the forms and hypothecation forms signed by the owner. I did not see the insurance copy or Transfer certificate form.

I guess I've described as much as I could. Please ask for more details if needed and I'd be glad to answer. I need you experts to help me out on points 4, 5 and 8.

Thanks in advance!

If the owner is indeed in Mumbai, he should be having a mobile number and an email id. Reach out to him and verify the facts. When I deal with used car/bike, my practice is to insist on a Govt ID of the person with whom I deal with, be it him friend or brother. I also give a photocopy of my ID too. The business should be transparent, and if the seller is genuine friend, he should not have a problem is accepting a demand draft/ cheque signed "A/C Payee only", be it 18K or 22K.

All the best and happy cruising

Thank you PNTLovesNano. We insisted signature of his friend in Mumbai to sign on a stamp paper to which he refused. Moreover he fixed the price at 22k.

A genuine seller has no problems. When I purchased my used Bajaj Caliber, the draft was given on the original owner's name (the seller was his brother). Keep off this deal as documentation is the biggest hurdle in used bike business.
