Default Now a Helmet for the price of Bajaj Discover 100

Shoei, one of the world’s best helmet manufacturers has unveiled the 2010, X-Spirit II line-up of helmets. The X-Spirit II is the successor to Shoei’s flagship X-Spirit range of full-face road helmets with racing specifications.
It features a wind-tunnel tested, aerodynamic shell, improved ventilation courtesy the Pin-lock fog free system and side vents and fully removable, humidity absorbing, quick dry interiors.
Targeted at racers and track-day enthusiasts, it costs a whopping £470 (Rs. 34,300/- Ouch!) in plain colours going above £600 (Rs. 45,000) for different colour schemes and race replicas.

Most of these high end helmets like Arai, Shoei, Suomy etc cost a small fortune. prices are nothing new or surprised to be in the advanced biking circles. These are made using latest tech and highest quality composite materials and usually weighs a lot lot lesser than it looks. Venting works too! And most importantly it does the job of protecting one's head very very well.

Well, I am one who believes that a "good" lid is most important. And guys who buy and ride superbikes should obviously be able to afford such safe helmets - I use the word safe instead of costly since I wouldn't put a price on my head!

Well is helmet costly than the head ? .There have been several helmets , this is no news , full carbon fiber BMW helmet is damn light but costs several times more .
I would have bought one if it was here , trying to source a good helmet from some coming down .

I'm not a biking person but does weight really matter so much? I mean, the helmet needs to be safe, yes. But does it really compromise you so much if its a bit heavier and a lot cheaper? Assuming of course, that you are merely a normal superbike owner who does the odd track day and not a professional racer.

Will have a good look at the helmet when it comes out. Passed the Shoei X-11 aka X-Spirit to a Suomy Extreme because the Suomy weighed less! Might buy one as a second helmet incase its priced right.

BTW I ride a RX135 Already spent a lot on armoured jacket, gloves and what not. Boots, one piece suit pending to buy now!

imagine the strain on your neck with each change in speed with a 5 kg helmet vs a 500g helmet.

and then also imagine getting thrown out of the bike at 100kmph with a 5 kg helmet on your head.

Did not know that they are doing R&D in helmets also. All the while, I was thinking that they are wearing the Helmets, Jackets, Gloves that we do.

Nothing of those sorts, I have seen regular bikers with the Shoei helmets and its been here for quite some time. Infact I used to own one when I had a shogun a few years back.A close pal picked it up for me from abroad.
However never knew of any dealers sourcing them for sales purposes.

This actually is not that expensive.i have actually seen more expensive ones lined up from arai.the ones used directly in F1 and motoGP.

Heck i bought mine back in 2005 for 32 grand.yes a shoei.its worth your head.this is possibly the best you can give to your head.and its super light too.
