I went to Teknik Motors on Saturday to check if they were accepting bookings for the Chrome version. They refused to take bookings unless RE sends them the display pieces and gives a go ahead for taking the booking.

They did confirm though that display pieces for both Desert Storm and Chrome versions are expected this week and hopefully they will be able to accept bookings for the same. On the wait time though they expect it to be 8 - 10 months even for these new versions.

The only reason for me to go for Chrome version was to beat the queue, so looks like this option is not going to work for me.

Dear fellow-bhpins, please help a Newbie !

In my desperation to get around the wait time I called up Manmohan Auto Stores, Chandigarh to enquire about the wait time for RE CL 500. To my pleasant surprise, I was told that they have all the colors in stock and can dispatch immediately. The guy I spoke to said that he can dispatch it to Bangalore through Blue Dart Courier Services and will reach me within 4 days.

I need to hear some opinions on how safe is this?
What would I miss by getting the vehicle without even looking at it?
Has somebody done this already?

The cost breakup that he give me is as follows:
Basic Cost 135700
Temp # 100
Insurance 2900
Transport charges 5000
Registration 10000
Total 153700
Can you please share your opinion/ experiences regarding this?

Thanks a lot in advance for your help!

@Randhawa

Thanks for responding. I do need your help, but given my newbie status, I am not allowed to PM.

Mods, Is there a way around this rule? I do respect the rules and do not want to break any, but this is like an emergency for me.

What a simple solution. I guess I am not able to think straight in all this excitement. They should already have it but I'll once again give them a call at 10:00 am to confirm.

Thanks to Randhawa, my wait time is about to be reduced from 8 - 10 months to 8 - 10 days. Super excited to be in the last leg of waiting period.

Very smooth idle and acceleration is what you will get with a remap along with eradication of the jerks. Since June, all the new C5 are coming with the new map.

Comfortable cruising speed is anything between 90-115 which you can do all day long without breaking a sweat. If you meant the crushing speed then 140 non stop as long as you can hold on to the bull.

Can you be more specific about the remap. What is the name of this version, how is it done and how much time it takes......and above all how to pester RE to get it done.......Reviews of this version are positive to at par with the first map by people who have had this luxury. So I think there is no harm in getting it done anyways ???

There is only one existing re-map so far and I did not write down the new serial no of the re-map. It takes 5 min to do the job, RE engineer will plug his laptop with the help of a dongle into the port of the ECU which has three wires. Run the diagnostic first and then run a programme to replace the existing map with the new one. In all 5 min job. I feel it's imperative for every one to get the new remap, it implies to pre June 2011 C5 owners.

You don't need to pester RE for it, they are organising camps for C5 owners across India to do the remap. All you need to do is inquire from your RSM or RE engineer for the time and date it's happening. I think Bangalore was among the first to start with the re-map camp.
