Ambur is about 160 kms from here which means about 7.5 hr ride (including stops) and an afternoon return. The heat will be killing.

I prefer 6 am depart and return by 9 or 10 to miss the heat and traffic build up.

So me and a friend decided and started off from Silk Board junction at 11. Reached Ambur at 1. Authentic Star biryani and back home exactly at 4. That was some good time we made there. 5 hours for a round trip to Ambur and back.

Thankfully wasn't too hot. And didn't sweat. Good, hard ride and we beat the traffic when returning too. Full stomach. Happy.

No pics. 😀

Generally we set out mainly for riding and food is just a filler in between those rides, but your post indicates that you enjoyed your food as same as you enjoyed you ride. l can sense how tasty the briyani was. Authentic star biryani is one of the best. There are couple of authentic star biryani places. One is inside the town and the other one on the outskirts. So which one did you pick up ?

Star biryani. Its the one on the service road, just after the theater. No, it isn't clean - it is a slightly dinghy place, a long corridor of a hotel.

Most of the best places I've eaten at are dark, dinghy and not frequented by the higher classes. Not a big deal for me!

Took a morning solo ride to the Kolar CCD. Was invited for the kawasaki test drive. A bad cup of coffee, a ride on a Z800, one on a Ninja 1000 and 4 hours later was back home. Very good riding weather in the morning. And once in a life time experience with those machines for me

Went on a solo ride to Lepakshi and returned by noon. The only hitch was I got fined at Devanahalli while returning. I was fined for over speeding and as per the cops I was doing 75 kmph while the speed limit for bikes is only 55 kmph.
The cops should have been on the same stretch at around 7-8 in the morning. They would've had a heart attack, what with some folks on some super cool bikes going at super cool speeds on this stretch.
Anyway the ride was worthwhile as I got to clock some much needed kms on the ODO.
