Well, this is the first time I did a breakfast ride and ended up reaching home by lunch time. Sojo has already provided a very nice write up there, so would just be posting the pics here...

Really nice pictures. The one with Sojo riding amidst trees is something that substantiates perfect timing.
I'm glad the ride went well and you guys had a blast.

Neil.Jericho looks great after his recent tryst with gravel. Glad for you, man.
ShaikhImran mate, you need to cut down on the Biriyani.

Sourjya's write up sums up our Sunday morning ride pretty well. Since we had riders with different comfort levels when it came to cruising speeds, the whole group wasnt riding together on the highways but we always had one of the faster riders keep pace with the others. The climb to Yelagiri was nice but it was as though the fourteen hair pin bends were done with almost as soon as they started. I have a Kolli hills hangover! We did spot multiple Renault Lodgys and Kwids on our way up and just as Chida and I reached the top, the last of the Kwids started its journey down so I couldnt get a closer look.

After walloping down a massive breakfast that probably couldve fed an entire family for a week (all for a very affordable Rs 447 despite us paying the city slicker rates) we explored a bit in our attempt to get to the lake and finally ended up at a nice quiet spot where we could unwind for a bit before heading back. While big city life does admittedly offer numerous soul selling worthy attractions, the serenity that we experienced surrounded by nature in multiple shades of green with fluttering butterflies accompanied by the soundtrack of chirping crickets and birds, made me wonder whether it was worth it.

While we hadnt set a tentative time to return, we did realize that we had spent too much time in Yelagiri and after riding through picturesque inside roads we finally managed to hit the highway back to Bangalore. Deceptively strong crosswinds meant that speeds were kept under check and I found it comfortably sunny but not too hot as we made good progress.

A stop for refereshing coconut water (again higher rates applied) and tanking up at A2B meant that my very uncomfortably numb bottom got some respite but we soldiered on back towards Bangalore. We lost 5 - 10 mins at the Electronics City signal when I pulled over before the signal and waited at the usual farewell spot but everyone else ended up waiting beyond the signal and hidden from my sight by some police jeeps. I was waiting for the top notch pictures from Chida to post (this not being one of them). All said and done, Yelagiri is a nice warm up run for more exciting rides which are 500 - 600 kms full day rides **hint hint cough cough Kolli hills cough cough**

Was I the only one who didn't feel the cross winds or was it the 320 kgs mass that stayed unmoved by the gale?

Are you serious, you didnít feel the cross winds??? Me and CBR250 (sorry forgot his name) had to crouch down to avoid the force of the wind. I also loosened my grip so that my upper body movement does not become a steering input; I believe this was till Krishnagiri, once we took the right turn towards Bangalore the setup was just about perfect.

@Chida Nope nothing. Felt nothing so had to do nothing. Maybe the 140-150 kg advantage over you guys did the trick Both of us are as hefty as they get !!
Or Maybe I was too engrossed in hypermiling her back to Bangalore

Planning for a breakfast ride this Sunday. Choices of destination are:

1: Kaivara (66 kms from Bangalore) - Bangalore - Chinthamani Road
2: Kanva Reservoir (58 kms from Bangalore) - Bangalore - Mysore Road

Anyone interested?

Let me strongly advise you to avoid riding to Kanva. I wasted precious fuel, sleep, suspension oil and my bone calcium into riding to that godforsaken place which didn't have even a millimetre of water. Felt like you're standing in the middle of a desert.

May I suggest you to ride to either Horseley Hills or Shivasamudra Falls. Both are equally beautiful and worth the pain. If you want something a tad shorter, Muthathi is your place.

Thanks buddy! Muthathi being just 100 kms from Bangalore looks like a good option. We plan to leave by 5:30 and return by 10:30 AM and this should be doable. Sojogator, Chida and Sammyboy may also be accompanying me on this ride. Let me check with them as well.

I'm turning into chowder from envy. It's times like these that I retrospect and re-affirm that the weekend ride was the most satisfying and awaited day of my week. The excitement and adrenalin to ride into dawn and earn that extremely rare expertise and skill on all kinds of roads and terrain was something that I'll always cherish. Unfortunate that many canít experience it, or rather, don't want to due to tons of alibis.

Enjoy it while you can.

Ride safe and have a great one. Remember, good photos.
