Why do you say but for the Rossi's on the road? Did they trouble you in any way?

A RC390 cut right across us just before we entered Adigas ! That is pretty troublesome in public roads in my eyes and I guess I can hold an opinion now !

Absolutely, I was just wondering what happened that it irritated you to mention it..

I think riding fast is one's own perspective but at no time should he/she be a hinderance to someone else on the road...

Was part of the Yamaha Riders Club ride to Adigas-Kolar today. Have the regulars on this thread moved to private WA groups? Or worse, lost interest in Sunday morning rides?

Hope its not the latter!

What was the total distance ? I just looked up google maps. Hunsanahalli is somewhere near Srirangapattana. Please share more details.

The loop from Bangalore (depending on where you stay, I started from Indiranagar) should be around 220 kms.

The loop is Bangalore - NH 209 to Kanakpura - Kodihalli - Hunasanahalli - Anchetty - Denkanikottai - Hosur - Bangalore

I ended up adding some 30 kms as I lost my way and went around in circles. Initial days trying to navigate while riding you see

It would be great if regulars could identify the exact point where you turn off NH 209, I took a left onto a narrow road immediately after leaving Kanakpura town (outskirts), not sure if it was the right one or whether the correct turn off is a few kms after leaving Kanakpura town.

Rode to Devarayanadurga today, started from Indiranagar at 545 AM, encountered very little until Tumkur road near Yesvanthpur where the usual truck traffic is omnipresent. Otherwise NH 4 was a breeze as always.

Missed the Dobbaspet turnoff and took a right from under the flyover just after crossing the Tumkur bypass. Small stretches of bad roads after you turn off NH 4; very scenic with winding roads (sadly they end just when you are warming up ) and negligible tourist presence (at least was the case today)

Some snaps below, taken with my Lumia (as evident from the resolution)

Anybody up for a ride tomorrow/Sunday?!

Setting the pace, I see.

Anyway, considering it's winter and winter mornings are a bliss, I'd recommend you to ride to Tonnur Dam or Markanahalli Reservoir.

The former has to be reached via the Mysore Road, but that's only like 70% of your trip. The rest is cowdung laced state highways. The latter has brilliant roads, but is difficult to locate as it involves a wee bit of off-roading.

1. Tonnur.

2. Markanahalli.

Thanks mate, your rides serve as an inspiration!

Do you mind posting the google map routes for both the destinations?

Much obliged, mate.

Sure. Here you go.

For Tonnur :

You can see the route map in the first picture. The catch is to make the right turn because it's not quite visible from the main road.
Road marked with red on both sides is where you need to slow down and keep your eyes peeled.

Bangalore - Sunday Morning Short Rides-1a.jpg

In this picture, the red area is more zoomed in. The place marked in a Black X is a Cafe Coffee Day which has a Right-O as it's neighbour. You can't miss it. Turn comes right after it as visible. From then onwards, keep riding as the map shows and any local can tell you where is TONNUR KERE. Don't say TONNUR LAKE to them if you want to avoid confusion.

P.S - Be careful of the water snakes at Tonnur and avoid stepping into the water.

For Markanahalli :

So you can see the overall route below. Take left from Nelamangala which comes just a few kilometres after the NH toll once you exit NICE. After Nelamangala, the roads are beautiful with scarce traffic.

Bangalore - Sunday Morning Short Rides-2a.jpg

The place marked in the red circle is your main turn. The place marked in a yellow X is an Adiga restaurant. From there a road turns left. Take that.
Place marked in a orange X is a Hindustan Petroleum storage facility. If you see it, you're in the right direction.
You'll see a junction next. Take the road which goes right.
Keep going absolutely straight until you reach the maroon X which is a PWD Inspection Bungalow.
Just after the bungalow, a rock-dirt trail descends below. Take that. You'll see the lake now. Follow the trail right till where it ends and you'll find the spot where I clicked my photo shown in my previous post.

Hope that helped!

Awesome dude, as good as guiding one to the destination in person

Assuming both are doable on a R15, especially Tonnur.

Gimme a shoutout when you visit Bangalore.

Both are doable on any two wheeler with a geared and cheerful rider. Ride well. Have fun!

For sure. And you too, whenever you're in NCR. Cheers!

We are planning a short ride to Shoolagiri tomorrow morning. The meeting point is the service road just after the Electronics City elevated expressway toll booth. Time : 6:30 AM.
