I know the cost is highly inflated. I need to find a similar filter which has the same density and filtration capability in the market and this will be significantly cheaper. Just have to search and find it.

I had a K&N for a while but you need an entire day to allow the filter to dry after it is cleaned. This one is cleaned and oiled in a matter of .....
Why don't you try the Pipercross filter. I have one on my N300. It's foam type and can cleaned and re-oiled in 15 -20 minutes. Also it's a lifetime filter, so you don't need to change it every 12,000 kms.

For coolant, I would suggest Engine Ice (again used in my N300). You will hardly ever have to top up and since it has de-ionized water (it's pre mixed) is better than the distilled water / coolant mix.

Thanks a ton, Pratik. Would you know where I can source the Engine Ice & Pipercross filter from? Which company makes the Engine Ice coolant? Apologies for my ignorance.

Been a long while since I updated this thread.

The Ninja has clocked approx. 32,000 kms so far and here are some pics which I clicked on my last couple of rides.

I was back from my vacation (with the family and the Ritz) on Dec 30th. Missed the ninja sorely on the winding roads of chikmagalur and kudremukh so much that the day I was back, I took the baby for a spin.

At Shoolagiri that evening:

The Ninja see's it first sunrise of the year en-route to Bellur Cross, along with Supriyo dada (schoudhury), Santosh (rk_sans) and Avinash (aviorp).

Breakfast stop at Hotel Mayura, Bellur Cross road:

Default Re: 2010 Kawasaki Ninja 250R - My First Sportsbike.

Last weekend, my family was not in town so fellow member Avais (Maibaa) and I decided to ride to Wayanad.

On Friday, I did a quick read up on this thread (Bangalore-Wayanad: Route & Accommodation) and we decided to head out at 6.30 am the next morning (Saturday).

As usual, due to the excitement of going on a long ride, I couldn't sleep well. Ended up at the meeting point (NICE road exit on Mysore road) only by 7.30am.

My last long ride (overnight trip) was sometime early last year (2013) to Kodai and Munnar so the excitement was more than brimming.

After a quick chai and filling up some water in our hydration packs, at the meeting point, we headed out. Stopped for breakfast at Maddur Adiga's and an hour or so later we were on our way.

Traffic was a bit on the higher side and the next stop was at Nanjangud IOC bunk for a tank-up. The roads are a lot better here since my last ride on this stretch to Ooty, a couple of years back.

Next pit stop was at Gundlupet CCD for some coffee and light lunch. We then headed towards Sultan Bathery via Berambadi State Forest and Muthanga (google maps link). We spotted 3 very young elephants but couldn't stop and take any pics. Apart from millions of speed breakers, the ride through the forest was lovely.

Best part of this trip was the ride through the smooth winding roads of Sultan Bathery to Kalpetta. It was so much fun corner carving these smooth twisties.

Here is a pic when we had stopped for a drink of water and fresh juice at Kalpetta:

We had booked a room at the Banasura Island Retreat (link) and the staff upgraded us to a superior cottage at no extra cost.

The last 1-2km stretch to the resort is sort of a private road which is strewn with rocks and stones. We had to crawl to the resort but once we reached (5pm), the view was breath taking.

Nothing much to do here at the resort apart from the view. One can take a boat ride at the boat club but we passed it off.

Next day we had planned to leave early but managed to leave from the resort only at around 9.30 am after some breakfast comprising of toast and eggs. We covered ground very quickly and reached Mysore at around 2pm. After a lunch break at 3pm at Indradhanush, we reached home by 5pm.

On another note, although I had wanted to upgrade to a bigger bike (N650) I am so glad that I retained this one. Never has my baby let me down nor bored me at any point during the last 3 years and 7 months of ownership. She is fast, comfortable and every minute on the saddle is so fulfilling. She still looks like new (and manages to pleasantly surprise onlookers when they learn she is almost 4 yrs old ) and rides like new even to this date.

The odo now reads 32,000 odd kms and the love story continues...

Appears that you have had a fantastic trip to Wayanad. Your bike does look every inch a stunner just off the blocks. How is the clutch holding up? 32000 kms for a hi-revving machine without a clutch overhaul does speak very well.

Thanks Mahesh. Getting a compliment from a passionate biker whose garage comprises of a range of enviable bikes surely feels nice.

The clutch is doing fine. However, the rear tire (PSD) which i had changed at 17xxx kms is worn in the center and on hard acceleration there is a bit of wheel spin. I have bought a new one though and will be changing it soon.

Thank you. I've rarely been riding now thanks to my hectic schedule. We used to tour a lot more earlier but in the last one year I have just managed 2 or 3 long trips. I do take the bike out once a month for a short spin (100-150 kms if not more) but I wish i could ride more.

hey aditya,

nice to see you piling up miles on the ninja and i wish you many more ahead

i had ninja250 and managed to put-up 20k kms(weekend ride & inter-state rides) before i sold it for an inline-4(fell for the upgrade bug)

you thread reminds me of my good times with ninja(if you remember,we have interacted couple of times on the "other" forum), keep the rubber side down.

Not really. The Daytona is far out of reach and I'm not really a Street Triple fan.
