Nice! Its lowered engine mounting, results in excellent handling which is doubled with the extra long wheel base.. BUT!! the KTM is better off know for its offroading capability, which may not be the THING in this bike! Lets wait n watch!

the pics looked crazy on the bike when i first saw it. (crazy being good. haha) thinking 125cc's would be perfect for putting around town. i'm wondering if india will get it first vs. north america......or if it even shows up on our shores. i went looking for one a couple months ago at a local dealer here and they had no idea what i was talking about.

Well, those are partly under life style motorcycles & not a typical commuter class ones. When R15 is making good sales, I'm sure KTM WILL eat into R15's market.

Its good, but, I would expect a non-air cooling motor plonked.

+1; unfortunately it will never happen!!!

PS - Why do they need an inverted telescopic front for such a non heavy weight motorcycle?

Even I think this KTM will eat much into the R15's territory but for the larger Indian flock for whom "cubic capacity" matters, it will fall short their expectations with a skimpy/commuter sounding 125cc. Let us not forget, the R15 took quite a while and had to prove itself repeatedly to come over the "150cc" spell. Now only time will tell how the Duke pitches against the upcoming R125 which is reportedly priced sub-85k mark and comes with a uber-sexy R6 inspired fascia.

I for one am really excited about this news. Will put aside my RX100 scrambler conversion plans and wait for this sweet little thing.

Pricey, yeah, maybe, but hopefully will be a stonker and worth every paisa.

Yes, it seems so, as I see radiator in the frame.

Are you saying, the bike will fall into commuter segment or the bike will get a commuter segment image?

IMO, it will not fall into commuter segment & might get the image of commuter. It might have a high compression ratio & 4 valves probably, making it one of the best engineered motorcycle in 125cc segment.

One of the main reasons due to Yamaha's tarnished reputation.

Default KTM 200 is India bound

According to ACI:

200cc KTM-Bajaj inbound | Autocar India

Quote:
A KTM and Bajaj jointly developed 125cc motorcycle is already making waves across Europe. Good news for India is this brawny street bike is expected to reach our roads around the end of 2011, with a fuel injected, larger capacity 200cc, liquid cooled, single-cylinder and four stroke powerplant. The exciting Indo-Austrian bike is held together by a chromium-molybdenum trellis with steel subframe skeleton, with top spec equipment that include an alloy swingarm and sub-frames, 43mm upside down front forks and monoshock rear suspension. Single disc brake systems are deployed on both wheels as well.

If I am not wrong this 125 cc is supposed to churn out 20 ps. Why do we need to look at cc to decide the calibre of the bike?

On the other note, what I have read, KTM is planning to lauch it initially with a 200 cc motor and later introduce 350 cc motor version also.

Bike will be BUILT IN INDIA, in Bajaj's Chakan plant!

Hence, the price will be 1 lakh plus. (And not 2L!). Furthermore, it makes just around 15bhp from the 125cc mill! However, it is also very lightweight at just 118 kgs!
