Default Re: Help Required on Yezdi Deluxe

The cause of your problem is glaringly obvious. Its the local bore-piston kit!!
The factory bores and pistons were matched by codes A to D based on thermal expansion characteristics, A being the best quality. Now if you're using local stuff, its obvious these haven't been matched the same way. Tolerances are certainly maintained, but no one can vouch for the quality of the metallurgy.

I would say, before trying anything on the bore (lapping, honing etc), try some home-grown remedies first, Burt Munro ishtyle! Try boiling your piston. It might settle the seizing issue temporarily. It seems to have worked with a friend's bike, and doesnt harm the bike in any way. Inspect the rings for scoring marks, and replace if necessary. If this doesnt work, THEN try the lapping.

As RT13 has already said, one-thou would need to be done extremely precisely. One effect of increasing your bore-piston clearance would be knocking/ticking sounds when engine is cold-started. This sound should disappear when engine warms up and piston has expanded. Reduced performance when cold, and drop in fuel efficiency are also to be expected.

Last option:Just look for a good second-hand bore-piston kit, or atleast a good Mahle piston (preferably not D quality).

Keep us updated.

PS: What was the needle position on your Pacco during the seizures?
