Default What bike for about 85k?

My first ventrure into buying a motorcycle has begun, I don't have much knowledge or experience with bikes, I intent my first bike to be with me for quite a few years, so much of advise will be required.

Firstly budget of around 85k, I don't mind second hand either.
Secondly I need good rider comfort.
Next up handling and braking should have good performance, power should be good as well and top speed should be atleast 110kmph and the bike should be reliable, good looks are also important.

With the above requirements what are my options?

Cheers,

Stefan

With that budget, I would recommend looking at P220, Fazer and FZ series. Since you have explicitly mentioned riding comfort, check out Avenger too.

A higher capacity bike is in Order. What kind of rider you are defines the bike.
P220 is my choice if your ride includes highway munching do try the ZMA also , I have ridden the bike on a trip to Goa Dudhsagar and loved the bike.. If your daily ride has city riding , Apache RTR 180 or FZ series would suit better.

If cruiser are your taste try the Thunder Bird. Most important thing when buying something you use everyday , always go with what your heart says.

Happy riding

If you are okay with a used bike, go for the R15.

Powerful, good fuel efficiency, handles like nothing else in the market and very reliable as well.

Yamaha FZ for inside city usage and Fazer for highway.

I am specifically asking you to stick with the Yamaha as it has got very safe and predictable handling. Braking too is nice and progressive.

R15 won't thrill everyone, especially someone who is new to Motorcycles.

I have an FZ and I have ridden a Fazer and I feel there is absolutely no difference. The ride height, position and the comfort level is just the same.

R15 is a better machine is all sense and Id recommend it to anyone who is considering an FZ/Fazer.

For daily commute : If college goer=FZ series else Suzuki GS150R,
For Highway use only : If you like enfileds = Any model that is comfortable to you else Avenger/P220 or Karisma.

There is absolutely no difference between both only if you don't have to encounter wind-blast @90kmph+ on highways and contemplate riding in the nether hours.

Only if you don't have to encounter bad-roads and two-up riding.
Its blissful 20 months with the R15 for me

^^Have owned both the Fazer/FZ and hence I put in my POV. Currently SZ-R has taken over and R15 is doing the 'wicked smile' thing.

I know I am different, why not the RD350 ? It satisfies most of your requirements, only it needs special care as it is a special bike. And 110 is a breeze.

Reliability can be an issue, can be a pain if you dont have access to a good mechanic and parts. I also think P220 gives a better ride.

I ride an Avenger and would suggest it if ride comfort is a must. Dont buy it if you want to flick it. Dont think other bikes come close to Avenger's rear seat comfort too.

Thanks for the inputs so far guys, the R15 seems my best bet, a little over budget though, but has the benefit of being easily tuned, I checked out the Yamaha showroom today, I prefer the look of the Yammies to other bikes and I believe the service is good here. Still I need to get a bike licence before I can take a test drive

Cheers,

Stefan

I think you should check out the new Avenger. It is the most comfortable bike to on once you get used to the posture. Got one (200) after test driving an R15, ZMA and what not but nothing came close. Test drive each one to decide. A bike is rather a personal choice, more than a car. It very much depends on your height, weight, riding style, age etc.

Never taken the Fazer above 70 to feel the difference, then again, that much of a difference?

The FZ is equally bad two-up riding and bad roads mate A not so blissful 27 months of ownership Id say for me

The R15 at least has better mileage and top speed I suppose.
