Its an intake resonator. In teh KB it was called Delta powerbox or something. Shogun also has it.

I think the RX-135/G/Z had a powerbox from the factory. You can try that on your bike. The box itself sits below the fuel tank. It's supposed to improve teh mid range throttle response.

Hey! Suyog
The power box you are referring to is nothing but the YEIS system.
Y = Yamaha (Obviously)
E = Energy
I = Induction
S = System
The name that I go about referring to it is a boost bottle (picked the term up from a friend). Its a small bottle which has to be mounted above the cylinder. I am not quite sure of the technical details for the reason for this set up. But from what I was able to grasp this is a much simpler solution to the problem that the EXUP system tries to negate on the high end YAM bikes.
Claims to this YEIS system is 10-15% savings on fuel consumption and the engine responds better even at low RPM. I do not believe that it boosts your power, but it does make your engine seem more "Alive"

Your Welcome Mate!
But do bear in mind the volume of the bottle and the positioning of the bottle is important. I am not sure which bottle can be used for the rx100 but when you do install it you have to make sure that it is placed above the cylinder.
Physics man Don't ask!

hi suyog this is tavish here.. remember

well actually what is does is ... the fuel and air mixture travel from the manifold to the reed block/piston in pulses.
now a little before entering the cylinder the pulses negate ie change direction and travel the other way.
the boost bottle stores these pulses and doubles the charge!

it isnt really required on the newer carbureatted bikes.
you could try one on your rx if its stock.would help.
mine is lying around here incase you interested.

hey guys i just got one from my friend its of RX135 n i have placed it above the head below the fuel tank. well my bike is not a stock one as i use it for dirt raceing so i have shaved the block n the compression is reduced so it has more power now n have even changed the air filter so this boost bottle will make some difference i hope

Sorry to bump up this old thread. Could not find any comments on ill effects of installing power box on RX100.

I was thinking to install this Power Box on my RX100, but a mechanic says that it will cause piston rings to wear out more quickly since RX100 does not have helper rings.

Can someone please shed some light on it?

Thanks.

Hi,
I have used the induction resonator in my RX100 for more than 60000km. It does improve the mid range torque and marginally the fuel consumption. No bad effects.
