What are the options in Mumbai? Does one have to go to Pune for a Goldie?

Wanderlustindia,

Would you have his address or contact number? It's hard to get Goldstar type exhausts in Bangalore. And there might be others looking for it.

If the Chennai pipe you had dint have any pacing inside but if the goldie you tried had packing inside then the chennai pipe would perform better.

But these exhaust once filled with glasswool would lose it's megaphone properties, so if it's glass wool filled then either one of these would yield the same performance. But goldie would sound better.

I'm pretty sure that the pimped up LB500 is using chennai pipes without any packing inside

You should definitely rejet (upjet) the carb once you fit any aftermarket freeflow exhaust, since the mixture would go lean. If you don't rejet it's bad for the engine. Exhaust valves & seat could get roasted.

My chennai mega didn't come with glasswool packing and it was very very antisocialistic loud Goldies usually come with glasswool prepacked or they might have a removable end piece and you can refill glasswool.

Double check the goldie stuff sold on Orkut. Like most things on orkut take with a truckload of salt.

Have seen this thread little late,

You can get the goldstar in pune Bangalore and in Delhi, if you are residing in any other city you can order on phone by making payment through net banking to Delhi guy. i would recommmend that you buy it from delhi guy only, it has better chrome quality and heavy sheet sis used for making it.

i have been using Goldstar since ages it improves performance for sure. you wont get typical Bullet thump. However it is heavy at lower speed and Dhrong Dhrong kinda sound at high speed, but then thats what goldstars are meant for. My new machismo 500 has just done 1000kms, the first thing i did was i got new golddie for my ride

if you wish i can get you the contact details and account number of Delhi guy. it will cost you around Rs. 1550 plus shipping.

Never heard the Delhi Goldstar, but I have the one from Pune and it sounds seriously good on an AVL. With a CI, it should sound much good too. I've spent around Rs 3000 on my Goldstar, thanks to double chrome plating and upsweeping it.

I think according to price, the Delhi one is definitely the cheapest.

The worst silencers are the rocket ones, and they cost just Rs 500 or 600. Rather get a short bottle silencer. Anyone have any pics of the megaphones from Chennai?! Also like the one that Anthony used on his 600cc Bullet.

I got this Goldstar silencer from Royal Motors in Delhi for Rs.650. Not sure where it's made. It's a straight-through exhaust - no baffles. It does have perforations on the inner lining to deaden sound and them tell me it's filled with glass wool. I have to admit it's pretty loud but not obscenely so. It sounds very powerful and I think the bike is developing more power with it (although since I'm still running my bike in it's hard to tell exactly.
