Wilful, if you are not particular about AT, consider the Optra diesel. There is a lot of discussion on it and some other Diesel sedans at the Spacious Diesel Sedan thread http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/sedans...-upto-12l.html (Choosing a Spacious Diesel Sedan upto 12L) - (Initially it was upto about 9L)
Thanks Positive - but I have been driving an AT (City) for the last 5 years and do not want to go back to MT. With the petrol prices zooming I was toying with the idea of shifting to a diesel AT. Sadly there are no options for a sub 10 L diesel AT.

Yes, the diesel+AT combo does look more alluring than petrol+AT and in this segment, Verna enjoys a complete monopoly But I just wish that Hyundai offered AT in all trim levels than offering it only in the fully loaded SX (O). But if budget is no issue ( As with most AT customers ) Then who am I to complain?

We customers are getting pretty demanding Some want the cheapest possible car, some want safety options, some want interior options, and then AT without other frills etc. I am sure there is a market for each of them. But to put it in perspective, it would lead to far too many options. Especially with 4 different engine options.

More variants, I expect, would also mean higher costs in terms of inventory, logistics, staff training etc. It may not be a huge amount, but would mean extra cost to the company. That is what would be keeping companies from going in for as many variants, I presume.

All that is very well, but I fail to understand why Hyundai offers an AT option in petrol but not diesel in the i20 - while it offers the same in diesel in Verna. A diesel AT i20 would generate more interest that a petrol AT one.
Also I tend to agree with Aravind about the AT option in at least one more lower variant of the Verna Diesel instead of the fully loaded (6 airbags etc) version.

My guess is that it would be to do with their perception of demand for a particular model, when they were figuring out variants. Also keeping in mind the price points and how they overlap. Many car decisions in india start with how much one is comfortable spending.

With changing dynamics (petrol/diesel costs) and busier streets (more demand for ATs), we may see more models coming up . All the best.

Many many congratulations JK007. How long did you have to wait to get your priced possession? What colour is it? Please post lot of pics & start your separate ownership thread. Eager to know your initial ownership experience.

@AutoIndian Thank you! I was supposed to get my car in the 1st week of June. But, there was a shortage of diesel motors. I am happy that I am finally getting it this evening. Picked up a "crystal" white this time, all my previous cars are silver, white for peace this time.

Pics will be up in a day or two. Yes, I shall start my first thread on TBHP soon.

"Crystal" white looks very good on the Verna, this is the same colour of the first Fluidic owner on the forum, Mathranik. So what was your total waiting period & how much waiting period are is the dealer quoting now? Is this your first Hyundai car or you have owned it earlier?

Yes, the white really sparkles on the verna. Just about a month for getting the verna. I was promised delivery within 15 days. But I ended up waiting for another 20 days. I have upgraded from an Accent CRDi. Was happy with A.S.S provided by Hyundai and it was an easy choice.

Hyundai bags 20,000 bookings for the new Fluidic Verna | IndianCarsBikes.in

Quote:
the automaker has bagged 20,000 bookings for the fluidic Verna. Waiting period for the car are to go up as a result of the increasing demand. Customers will now have to wait for 4-6 months for their new Verna. This does not come as a surprise as Hyundai offers the car in various trim options for both petrol as well a diesel variants.
That is a super start. Congrats Hyundai. Challenge is to keep the waiting period down as much as possible & keep clocking the numbers.

Hyundai are targeting to sell 45,000 units of the Verna by the end of this year and with 20,000 bookings already in the bag, it seems smooth sailing for the company. But, with Fordís new Fiesta bubbling under, it could be the game changer. Again pricing will be crucial.....
All the best H

If Fiesta priced similar to Verna or only little lower than that....I guess more people will move towards Hyundai with H after sales service a BIG PLUS

Unhappy Re: Hyundai Verna : Test Drive & Review

Bad news for me, my diesel auto delivery is postponed to Aug. The dealer says it's because of excess bookings, even though mine was booked in May. No committed date yet.

Hope my name doesn't get pushed down the list and they maintain their FIFO method.

The 20,000 bookings are hardly a surprise. In fact, what I'm really surprised with is the interest this car has generated. From my immediate family (who never really discuss cars, unless I bring it up) to friends, I've heard innumerable comments on how good the "fluidic" looks. Everyones talking about the new Verna.
