No, only the 1.4L petrol engine is available if you want an i20 AT.

Also, if you want a 1.4L petrol i20, you have to get AT. Even the Asta petrol comes with 1.2L engine.

This is not only a rip of but sheer insanity While I have a petrol VXI, the 20k service cost me Rs. 4600 odd. For a diesel, it would probably be 20-30% higher, as far as I am aware.

I just received my zdi from the 25k service, the same costed me Rs 8,000/- which included synthetic oil, tyre rotation, alignment, engine flush etc. Out of which the major expense was for the engine oil which itself cost me around 4k.

Sai Service is the 'WORST' place you can give your car to. Try something more honest like Navneet Motors Thane or Car Kraft, Mulund ( If you dont have warranty work, its an authorised service station but since it does not sell cars it does not have the authority to carry out warranty work).

Oil was changed at 20 right ? why one more oil change at 25 ? and why service in the first place at 25 k ? Isn't it directly from 20 to 30k ?

Why did you have to do an engine flush? And a service at 25K? Doesn't sound normal.

Most other manufacturers give the buyer a choice between mineral and synthetic.
And based on what I have read so far, they both have the same replacement frequency - so that means people end up buying the mineral oil more often than not,as it is cheaper and works well under normal operating conditions. Curious you had to go for synthetic oil - do you normally drive in extreme conditions? What sort?

The service interval is 1K, 5K, 10K, 20K, 30K and so on. So why did your car go for the service at 25K?!

Un-necessary thing for the service are the Wheel alignment & rotation (This could have been done outside who do the job as it should have been done) and Engine flushing.

As a rule i service my car at every 5k kilometers and the engine flush is a normal thing that i get done when i change the engine oil.
I switched over to synthetics at the 15k service, before that the car was running on mineral oil.

I thought you might have had an oil change at 15K. If you read thru this forum, engine flush is recommended usually when you shift to a different grade oil. For anyone who replaces oil as per the recommended interval, this is NOT required.

This is just to fleece some money from a customer. Since you shifted to synthetic oil at 15K, I assume you had done an engine flush. Moving on, it's NOT required it you stick on to synthetic; but it's your choice.

What all work do you do for every 5K service?

MASS here recommends 5k or 6 months service interval and when I enquired about the cost they quoted around 5000rs for 15k service and 10000rs for 20km service

Just ask them if they think they know better than the engineers at Maruti who built the car and prescribed the service intervals. BTW, is it Indus?

I give my car for service every 5000 km after it crosses 40000, primarily for inspection of the wear and tear of the parts that are not routinely replaced. Typically, the bill would be ~ 2k for the inspection + cost of anything that needs to be replaced immediately.

The regular/routine replacements are only done at the 10k intervals as per the manual.

When the company itself recommends only 10K / 1 year service, what's MA$$ business in a different recommendation. Next time they say that, please ask them to put in a piece of paper / email and give it to you.

And a 15,000 service costs 5K and 20,000 kms service costs 10K?? Rubbish! So, for a service that never exists, they make 5K and for a regular one, a clean 30% more.

Do they realize their stupidity & greed is going to hit them in the long run?? I have decided that Maruti would most probably NOT be coming into my garage after owning a Swift due to the service costs. I would rather buy a premium car and then pay the same premium service costs as Maruti. Snob value & part quality will be a bonus for me.

Sorry, but it's still NOT clear for me. I understand that you do NOT change oil as the cost mentioned is less than what you would incur. Just want to know what specific work do you get done for that 2K.

Reading this 14K service estimate, I have to say VW's so called expensive service ain't so expensive after all.

Done just over 30K kms in just under two years with two services at 14K & 28K kms. And the service cost for each service has been around 8.5 k.

Additionally I don't have to take it to the service center too often.( Hyundai the other car needs has an interval of 6 months/10K kms).

My mantra is the less the service people fiddle with your car, the better it is in the long run.

Regarding the brake issue in swift , I drive a swift zdi & an ertiga zdi & have felt that the brakes on ertiga have a much better feel & better stopping power compaired to swift, ( but both share the same hardware)??

Kindly go for mobil delvac1 synthetic for the diesel swift . It can be had for @ 750/L from outside & the MASS guys will fill it up for you. They generally do not have the mobil delvac 1 available & will only recommend the mobil 1 synthetic if you opt for synthetic oil. BTW they use the same mobil 1 synth. for petrol swift & diesel swift & is generally expensive @1100/L than the mobil delvac 1 synthetic.
