Hi. I am thinking of purchasing a Dec 2012 Vxi which has done about 16k kms from Maruti True Value. They are asking 4.35 L for it. Do you think its a good deal or should I wait for the new facelift to come to India. The tentative updates seem to be quite cosmetic and I feel they will be limited to the ZXI / ZDI. Any feedback would be welcome.
P.S. It will have the normal true value warranty of 1 year as well as 3 free services.

Got my ZDI serviced for 30k kms. Total bill was Rs 7600 (with mineral oil).

They replaced the rear left shocks (Rs. 1302) and the rear beam assembly (Rs. 10576) under warranty as there was a squeaking noise coming from it. Intermediate drive shaft needed replacement but part was not available. Have to take the vehicle back once it arrives.

Labor Charges were as follows
a) Paid Service Rs 1225
b) EGR Valve and/or gasket- dohc R & R - Rs 3200
c) Mud flap fitting - Rs 105 (I had asked for new mud flaps to be fitted).

Total Labor Rs 5089
Consumables, mud flap and other parts - Rs 2513.92
Total Rs 7604.

Total Service cost at MSM till date:
a) 30K - 7600 (mineral oil at Rs 740)
b) 20k - 6423 (mineral oil @ Rs 740)
c) 15k - 2735 (no oil change)
d) 10k free service - 4653 (synthetic oil @ Rs. 3316 )
Total: 21,415

Outside
25K service done outside at Ignite Garage : Rs 3100 (Shell HX7 oil @ 1325 for 3.5L)
Wheel alignment : 6 times Rs 1800)
Balancing : : 3 times (Rs 1000)
Fog lamp : Rs 550
100/90 fused bulbs: 300 * 4 Rs 1200
Total : 29065
Maintenance Cost per km (without electrical i.e. bulb fuses etc) : Rs 1/km so far.

Mineral oil change at every 5K (including 2 oil filter changes) Rs 2162
Synthetic oil change at every 10k (including 1 oil filter change) Rs 3657
Difference between synthetic and mineral for every 10k Rs 1495

EGR cleaning seems to be a big loot.

... And the life goes on!

Hello and good evening to all! Today I took the delivery of a T-Blu Maruti Swift. I've driven it just 3 km's as of now but it feels real good! It's handling and ride are much better than my Verna (My private boat) and better than the XUV. It's the most Fun-to-drive hatch right now on sale, as I feel! Thank you all the owners who have shared their Swift's reviews, especially a few notable ones like a4anurag, frankmehta (others will find a place in my ownership thread) etc. and the official review by our highly-esteemed GTO!

Thank You All!

Ownership report? Coming Soon! Keep watchin'!

Keep revvin'

Congratulations on the Blue Swift. By far the best color that a car can get (Specially the Swift). One cannot miss it in a crowd and it is unique. Best handler in the segment and reliable to the core.

By the way which variant and engine option have you bought. Small details please!

I am happy you liked my review. And I am waiting for your ownership thread.

Happy mile munching.

Thanks Anurag!

Your ownership thread is one-of-the-best reviews on the 'net!

Oops! Forgot to mention! I've bought the ZDi variant. Don't prefer the base-or-mid models due to their lack of features (especially Safety Features). I love the ZDi and I've been told this is the first torque Blue ZDi in Amritsar! I love the stance and look of the car. Tomorrow I am planning to get Autocop reverse parking kit.

I'll add few cosmetic touches to the car to make it look much more appealing!

Keep revvin'

Found this old photo in my HDD today while i was archiving them and thought i'd post it here. Its a VXI, AVG shown on the console is 21KMPL, this was on the way from Coimbatore to Tvm with a 1.4 engine under the hood. The ODO was 13482KM then (Aug 2013) and now stands at 21000KM.

Forget the average, the revs are in diesel category. Pretty low IMO for a petrol car.

Any K12B VVT swift will show the same RPM at that speed because gearbox is stock on my car and speed to rpm doesn't change unless gear ratio is changed.

If I am not mistaken, I have seen almost the same revs at the same speed in a multi-jet/ddis engine.

Is this trait, because of the gearbox or the engine?

Why do you keep flipping between mineral & synthetic oil every 5K kms?? I am NOT sure it's a good thing to do.

I do NOT think MJD will hit 3100 rpm at 120 kmph. It will more be like ~2500 rpm at those speeds. 3000 rpm comes at 140 kmph+ IIRC.

RPM to Speed is decided by gearbox and wheel size. After the engine change i believe the engine can comfortably pull a taller final drive. With a taller FD the revs will truly be in the DDIS category. Since i haven't driven a DDIS extensively i had to look it up to find the RPM of the DDIS motor in 5th at 120KPH.

GTO's remarks on 1.3DDIS engine:

Sheel, The following is from BCM, but the review is of the older model. Maybe someone with the new DDIS can confirm.

You love highway cruising, this is the car for you, at barely 2500 rpm the speedo registers 100 kph with the turbo fully spooled up and the car in its torque band, overtaking is a cake walk, it doesnt get easier in a hatchback save for the Palio 1.6 no other hatch comes even close. Even at 120 KPH the tacho is still below 3000 rpm!!! (2900 to be precise), overtaking still a breeze though it requires a litte more pedal press.

Reading the above from BCM i think its pretty close, and maybe thats why it looked similar to you.
