Hi congrats on your purchase.

There are 2 things possible. You can pay upfront and then claim with Tata AIG which will be a pain the neck. You may try one thing - In the unfortunate event of using an insurance claim - you may get the Tata AIG surveyor to the Toyota workshop and ask him to provide an estimate.

I am attaching another pic of the 2012 Fortuner. I feel there is some difference in the grills. Can someone confirm or is it just me ?(Look at the topmost / broadest Chrome Lip)

No i dont see any difference. Its the same on my fortuner. Just there is some reflection which causes it to look a bit different.

Regarding the insurance i think you mean its better to stay with toyota? But Tata Aig was saving me 30k :(

I am really 'chroma'tised by your pictures. The Gold mica looks very subtle and refined. The headlight chrome surrounds makes it look like Batman's eye's, though.

Haha. Yes i liked the chrome for headlamps because it matches with the grill. Didnt want to put the bonet scoop chrome & mirror etc.. Too much of chrome looks cheap. Didnt want it to loose that sophisticated look. By the way mileage reading is 13 rite now. And yes its a little smoother on 32 psi. But looks a little low.

I use Tata AIG for all my vehicles. Their service is excellent and they don't hazzle with claim amount and are very prompt with payment. If you pay a little extra you can take the no depreciation policy where they reimburse 100% without any depreciation for age/plastics/rubber etc... It is very handy for expensive vehicles. The only issue will be that if there is no cashless agreement with Toyota Dealer, you will have to settle bill first and then submit claim with original bill to Tata AIG. I have done this three times for various vehicles and got my check within a week.

Thank you so much for your reply. That was helpful. Now i have decided to carry on with toyota insurance only as there are less hassles! Also i dont want to get into any fights with them because i will be giving them the vehicle for service in the near future :P

Alright guys just wanted to know. Have completed 600 kms so far. Thats only in the city. The AT Forty is giving me 7.3 kmpl rite now. Is this normal for a new car as the engine hasnt opened up yet? I am plannning to take it to delhi (260 km) soon though. So should i wait for the first servicing or get it checked at toyota or is this normal?

Well a MT Fortuner would be giving something around 9~10kmpl in all city drive. AT transmissions are know to give around 1~2kmpl less than a MT. So your mileage of around 7kmpl is along expected lines. This would increase by around 2~3kmpl on the highway and also increase after initial 2~3K kms. So expect around 9~10kmpl overall sometime down the line.

Well, my TFort AT gives me around 8.5 in Bangalore city drives and the best I have got while on the highway was 14 over 600 Km. I was light on the pedal cruising at abou 80-90. In a different trip when I was doing 120-140, it dropped to about 11. The MID FE readout is very close to my tank to tank calculations.

I am close to about 6000 Kms now from the past two months of ownership.

Was 8.5 from the start? Or did it give this after the first servicing or some 1000 km? I havent really gone for a long journey yet. Will that help the mileage?

It started at 7.8 in the city and now seems to be settled at 8.5 however I drive it. If I take it easy, 9 in the city seems to be a given. Give it sometime to run-in, am sure it would improve.
