My dashboard is Black. The lower panels are beige. And it is a Jun 2013 manufactured car.

Btw, I checked the images on 1st page of this review. The pics show Black/Grey dashboard and Beige lower panels

Where did you see all beige ? some specific variant or color ?

May be they changed it to Black+beige in July-2013.
Or it might be an aftermarket job.
The current model has a grey - beige combination. Not sure if this is same across all variants Interior 360 degree

Yes. This is the same color my car has.
Current Ortega models are with same gray - beige combination.

I wish, if Maruti can provide dashboard color like i20 dash or black-beige or total black interior.

Can you post a photo of the black dashboard and beige lower panels please? I thought that the Ertiga had a darkish beige dashboard and a more lighter shade of beige on the lower panels. If they have changed it to black, it is a very positive step indeed. One more point added towards selecting the Ertiga as a new car.

The dash looks much better with this combination. But still its a sea of beige, especially the gear lever and cup holders. I would'nt have been able to keep that area clean.

Yes, same view as mine. You can see the pic of new dash from Ertiga site, link shared in my post above.

I went through the Ertiga site and as far as I can recollect, it is the same shade of brown right from the begining, although I may be wrong. On a different note, we might be able to convert some of the parts by covering up with blackish shade of Leather. For example the steering cover and the gear knob cover. If the fitting is done well, it shall look good. One of our fellow BHPian, 'Rajain' has done a fantastic job on his Ertiga steering wheel cover with Karlsson. Sharing the link here, hope 'Rajain' doesn't mind.

I agree, Anurag. I was just reacting to Rohit's post stating that his dashboard was black. I thought Maruti had changed the shade recently. But now it is confirmed that it is the same old brown.

How safe is sitting in third row if rear ended by a following vehicle if we brake suddenly?

It is common to be bumped by buses in delhi from the back. Bumpers of buses and trucks also dont align with car bumper level.

Has Ertiga been reinforced to prevent injury if this happens?

Rear glass also looks vulnerable to rear bump causing it to break over third row passengers.

Anyone looked into this?

This is something which is worrying me as the head of third row passenger is dangerously close to rear glass. I haven't checked whether they have provided any reinforcement on the rear door, but knowing Maruti's way of cost cutting, I assume there wont be any. Even if there is some reinforcement, it may not help in extreme cases as the distance between rear end and the passenger's head is so close.

The rear of hatches are generally reinforced/ strengthened as compared to sedan counterparts, due to which the occupants are more or less in similar safety zone (if not better) as the sedans (which just have the distance of rear seat from rear end as the savings grace, Honda City accident around Siri Fort some time back, which was rear ended by a DZire & the rear passenger of City lost her life, is an example of sedans being equally good or bad).

MUV's rear IMO is as good as a hatch rear, & this should ease some of your anxiety. However, always remember "man proposed & God disposes", i.e. there is the supreme power/ guardian angel, who will bring you to safety in such situations.

Thanks Vinod and Cardeep.

High speed crash nobody is safe.

But if even minor bump can result in serious injury - then I am worried. Especially since the whole idea is that the kids will sit at the back. I have almost finalised the choice of Ertiga but this one thing is causing some qualms.
