Post Skid plates for Renault duster

Hello, I am looking to get skid plates (silver colored) for my soon to be delivered Renault Duster 85ps RXL plus. The dealer quoted about 14-15k (both front and rear). Is there a cheaper alternative in Bangalore?

Got the ICE upgraded on my Duster last week. Wasn't very extensive but these are the modifications:

1. Rainbow DLC 6.2 Component speakers for the front
2. Digital Designs A4 Amp
3. Hertz DBX 10 Sub
4. Cerwin Vega 8AWG wiring
5. Dampmat damping on front doors

* Retained the stock speakers for the rear. Even Aman suggested that I retain them as I would be driving the car myself and consider an upgrade later if I felt like it.

Got the whole thing done from Motor Concepts, Delhi. As others have already stated in other threads, the owner, Aman, is very courteous and patient and willing to understand what you exactly want. The technical know-how and experience of the chief installer, Pramod and the neat way of working and care of installation taken is a definite .

To accommodate the larger speakers and retain OEM look the speaker tunnel was cut from the inside (upto the mark indicated by the red stars in the pic attached). Instead of mounting the speakers on normal rings, they used a rain-guard instead (first time I've even heard of such a thing being used in an after-market fitting). The wires were neatly stacked together using ties and 2 sheets of Dampmat per door was used (doors feel heavy and sturdy now).

Over all the complete process took 6 hours and left my pockets a lot lighter in the end.

Nice job Seems like a lot of work for sure.

Only concern I have is the guy drilling few long nails through the back seat. In my opinion it is only outer frames and few steel lines visible in the picture to hold the foam of the back rest in place. Hope they don't come out scratching the rear passengers back.

Thanks HillMan. There are three planks of wood on each side. The nails were drilled to hold the planks together. The bottom plank was securely placed under the wire mesh. No screws into the foam. But yes it's only these wires holding the entire back rest.

Posting this query on behalf of a colleague of mine: He owns the Petrol Duster. After the second service, the mileage within the city has dropped from about 11kpl to about 9 kpl. While he is pursuing this with the company, he has asked for any advice or help on

- What could be the root cause of this drop in mileage
- What is the recourse available in terms of escalations etc

Any information appreciated. Thanks

Mileage depends a lot on driving conditions and style. In Diesel I see in city mileage variation all the way from 11 - 16kmpl depending on traffic conditions.

Ask for a mileage test.

There is hardly anything done in second service. Its a general checkup with oil and filter change. They will reset the ECU so the chip starts learning afresh. That can also throw some erratic initial mileage for some 200kms till it settles down to your driving parameters.

Hi
One cheap alternative is to get both bumpers painted in place of skid plate and for the looks fit those OE black screws which is available in ASC.This will surely save you 10k min. Some owners are fitting nudge guard for which they have to remove the front skid plate and fix.In such cases you may get it cheap from the owner.

It's from Autoform. Ordered through an accessories shop at Kochi. Cost me 12k including fitting.

Got my White Duster 85ps RXL plus home today morning.
Talk about being professional and Whitefield Renault said I had overpaid about 15k and will be receiving a refund cheque. Not sure how but that sounds good to me.

You cannot get a one great car for india. First duster is a cheap package for cheap indian buyers. Compromising on quality of plastics. And at 15 laks for a awd 4*4 this is too high. It does not have a dead pedal. No arm rest still this is one good Renault that you can buy. I only wish if it had atleast a geat looking interior dash Like Eco sport or i20

Completed the first service/check up yesterday.
ODO: 1550 kms
Issues reported: Rear left door making a weird sound while closing and spongy brakes

Both issues are fixed but the brakes are still a little spongy. Not as sharp as some of the other cars.

Total Amount: 0/-

I am getting an average FE of 16 kmpl so far which seems to be pretty impressive considering the size of the car and traffic conditions @ Kochi. No long drives yet apart from couple of Ekm-Thrissur drives.
