Also I think there will be few tenths difference between Bangalore Mumbai due to altitude difference. Nonetheless these are excellent figures for a 1.2L hatch.

VW claims fastest 0 to 100 times as 9.7 seconds. So given all the conditions as per your post are in favour, you reckon one could better their claim just with all stock options?

That's generally a tall task. I can't really take a guess at whether it will be possible or not - i guess a lot of it comes down to the method used for the launch on which the 9.7 timing was measured.

I have just completed 3000 kms. I now find turbo lag a bit annoying especially on the highways. Whenever I am contemplating a quick overtake I have to press the accelerator pedal a bit earlier. Not that the car is slow but now I am so used to that power surge that I want it instantaneously.

I find the door design in polo a bit awkward. Inner surface of the door and body gets dirty upto the rubber bidding even though the doors are shut. For cleaning it one needs to open the doors which my watchman doesn't do.

What you are talking about is the slight delay in the transmission downshifting. It happens in most transmissions, and the DSG is known to hesitate for a second before downshifting. Its just a matter of getting used to. I assume this is your first automatic car?

The other option is to slip the shifter into S just before you want to overtake, that should automatically bring the car down a gear and then move it back to D once you are done.

So how do the the GT TSI's 0-100 compare against all the C segment sedans including the oil burners? Is it a contender for the fastest car one can buy in India for less than 10 Lakhs?

9.7 seconds is the official claim and i think thats what is mentioned in the official Team BHP review as well. Some others have put it closer to the 10.5-11 second mark

Hi puchoo,

Rehaan has already clocked 9.91 on the GT. So i guess a 9.70 is definitely possible under favorable conditions.

I guess all we need is a chart done by BHPians with 0-100 times of all Cars under 10 Lakhs.

Sorry to go slightly off topic but considering your cars are all new, have you guys run in your engines already that you people are timing your 0-100 sprints ?

Hi guys, so I got in touch with Downtown VW about the TSi and I got a finance quote, test drive date and brochure.

I just want your opinion about the finance quote, here's what it says:

Ex-Showroom: 823,534
Registration (Individual): 77,618
Depot & Other Chgs: 3,500
Processing Fees & Stamp Duty 7,050

Insurance: Self (They were quoting 35k for insurance)

Total without insurance works out to: 911,702

On road with their insurance comes to around: 9.47 lakhs

Personally, I'm skeptic about:
- Registration: seems to be a tad high
- Depot and other charges (***)?

Am I being taken for a ride?

Hi mango_pal, I think you should also check with VW Sion (Autobahn Automotive). I'll PM you the name and number of the SA I dealt with.

Guys, when do you think there will be "offers/discounts" on the GT TSI?

That would be the time to convince the lady she needs an automatic!

Diwali time, no? Almost every brand offers discounts and stuff in this period and the next morning you really do see several new cars on the roads :P
Also if you don't mind having a car that is new but perhaps slightly old stock, then the the end of the year discounts are brilliant too you might even get to choose the diesel version then rumor has it that it will be available with a manual
