Am I being taken for a ride?
Hi mango_pal,

My recommendation would be to go with self insurance. I got a quote from bhartj AXA for Rs. 26,500 for a zero depreciation policy. Try them or others.(if you want the quote PM me your mail ID).
About registration charges, 78k is reasonable as back in TN I have paid close to 84k, of course you will have to find out what's the road tax regime in your city. What's with the Depot and other charges?
Good luck with the shopping. And congrats in advance.
Cheers,
D.

I would agree. Thats what i am doing and i can save as much as 14,000 depending on whether i go for comprehensive or 0 Depreciation. Bharti quoted me around 25 for 0 dep.

Do check the IDV they take into account as well , sometimes they tend to use a higher IDV than required to notch up the premium

Hi Rehaan,

I found this 0-100 video put up by MotorBeam.com on You Tube. By my amateur method of verifying which involves my quick left thumb and a stopwatch on my phone , it does look like a 9.70 to me. What do you think?

Hi karan561,

I've still not tried it on my car, but I'm really tempted.

Gaadi.com conducted a Delhi to Ahmedabad race between the Polo GT TSi and the Delhi-Ahmedabad Rajdhani Express.

Result? Read here.

Kudos to the Polo GT Tsi. But I am sure they missed the rumali roti being served on the Rajdhani.

That was an awesome run by Polo GT. But there are more mandatory stops for Rajdhani. Even otherwise the Gaadi team did great

Not taking away the credit from the TSi but the gaadi.com team says that they maintained speeds of 120-130kmph on the highway. Any car starting from the premium hatchback's in our market can beat the train then. Even diesel hatchbacks can easily win this race. What is it then? The roads have gotten better or is the Rajdhani not really that fast?

I wonder how this car will hold its value in say, 5 years and 50k kms time. By then it can safely be assumed the DSG will be on the verge of throwing 'expensive' tantrums.

I recently checked the fuel lid of my car. On the fuel flap its written 95 RON SUPER PREMIUM. I have been using 97 octane for the past month and do not use the normal 88 ron unleaded. When i spoke to the VW service advisor about this he said that the car would run fine on 88 ron unleaded but i have my doubts due to the marking sticker in the car.

With 97 Octane the car runs smoother, has better fuel economy and theoretically a higher top speed.

Are any other Gt owners using Speed 97 or Regular unleaded.

Although im no expert on this subject but by using lower octane fuel on a car with a higher octane requirement would damage the engine in the long run.

Going by the foreign languages seen on the sticker, its not India specific......something carried over from Europe & they have not bothered to change it for India.

The jetta 1.4 and the 1.8 in the laura are from the same engine family as the GT. If someone on this forum has a laura or a jetta could they please check whats written on thier cars fuel caps.

It says 95 RON Super Premium. The unleaded petrol we get in India is 88 Ron and premium is 97 octane which would be 93-95 ron.

The Laura TSI and the Superb TSI and the Superb 3.6 all said minimum 95 ron, but it runs just fine on normal (saada) petrol. No issues at all. Most here use normal fuel. Fill it up sometimes with 97. Not much of a performance loss either.

Of course if you can afford filling 97 everytime then nothing like it.
