Now I can still get the Navigation card if I want , but in the age of Google Maps due you really need it? Also I have been using MMI for last 4 years and donít find it very useful and when you really need it you have Google Maps.
So does it make sense to get the card of another 10k (they donít know which map it is but might be MMI)?
Congratulations :-) and welcome to the Octavia petrol family!

The SD card is available dirt cheap at superskoda: http://www.superskoda.com/gr/Skoda/S...pe-88-DISCOUNT

This is the case in all cars, the chrome lining being plastic I mean. Get the vent replaced under warranty, simple.

Yes, they do (with mixed reviews) and their website and payment methods can be clunky. I have not used them but plenty of people have. Probably worth the risk given the small outlay!

I usually buy off www.skodadop.com but they have a smaller catalogue.

Thanks for the suggestion. I had assumed they don't cover such physical damage under warranty. Another vent also has a broken lever that controls the sideways movement. I am on extended warranty now, but I will try and see what they say about warranty replacement of the vents when I take it in for my next service. I hope they don't want to keep the car for several days for warranty claim of such a simple part.

I bought a 2in1 usb charger for my octavia. I always keep the charger plugged in into the port in all my cars(octavia, polo & i10). I observed that in octavia the supply to the port is always on because of which the indicative light on the charger is always on 24/7 even when the car is turned off, this is not the case with my other two cars the charger is switched on & off when the car is turned on & off. Am I supposed to worry about this? Can I keep the charger plugged in always? Will doing so not drain the car battery?

It cant use too much battery, but if you dont use your car everyday, remove it when not using it. I just slightly dislodge the adapter from the contact point. Its become a habit now. Theres no workaround as of now. The battery will keep on supplying power whether you use it or not.

Better to unplug the charger when you are not using it as the electronics inside will heat up if it is constantly plugged it and can be a fire hazard in the car, especially with nowadays hot summers.
Generally it is a recommended practice to switch off and disconnect all third party devices in the car due to this risk. The risk is even higher with devices with Lithium batteries (like Mobile phones, GPS devices etc) as the temperature inside the car often reaches 65-70 Degrees in a parked car in the sun and if a Lithium battery is charged at this temperature, it may explode, often causing fire.
This applies for all cars and devices, but we need to be careful with our Skoda cars as the Charge input does not switch off even when we switch off the ignition, while in other cars it does switch off, so charging would stop.

I got the delivery of my Octavia on 9-May, 1 week ago. I have taken the car without permanent Number for now, as it might take 1 month to get the number as per the dealer.

I have been driving for a week now getting adjusted to the Automatic and also Petrol, overall the car is quite nice, great to drive, will keep posting reviews.
My personal opinion, i still think Manual cars are better to drive.

People who have Navigation , can you please confirm which company Maps are provided by Skoda?

Get used to the DSG for a month, we'll talk then.

Hi worldtravelbug, I am facing the same issue in my Octy too! The knobs for controlling the air direction have loosened up on all my AC vents and has come off of one. Have spoken to the Sales rep at the Skoda Service Outlet here in Pune, waiting for his feedback whether this is covered under warranty. Would appreciate if you could keep us updated too regarding this.

Cheers,

Artem

Hi Artem,
I haven't taken my car in for servicing yet, will post an update after that. Please do let us know the feedback you get regarding the warranty coverage.

Finally went with Exide DIN60 from local battery shop, i think this battery will last me a good 3-4 years.

If you go to Skoda and ask for a replacement, they wont replace it for free after 18 months from date of sale. They will charge about ₹8000 for a similar battery either Exide Spain/Sebang/Varta/Volkswagen branded, but its cheaper and much more hassle free if you go for local battery which will cost you ₹5300 with refund for the old unit.
I am having another battery failure today. It has been exactly a year and one day since my battery was changed! I have sent the car to service station.

I have my doubts whether they will cover this under warranty. If it is not covered under warranty then I will go with locally manufactured Exide.

My question is what what power have you gone with? 68 or 74?

Not something you'll look forward to in bumper-to-bumper traffic for sure.
Since the manual transmission is from Jetta, does the Jetta manual diesel clutch has equally long travel and on the heavier side? Somebody who has driven both can comment please.

Excellent and detailed review. Kudos. After sales service is still a mistery at Skoda.
