That's very true

I have the Octavia II (Laura TSI) and the following failed after 6 years of ownership and 70,000 kms.
1. Fuel Pump - 25,000/-
2. Water Pump - 25,000/-
3. Battery

My Octavia TDI completed 45K kms recently. A week back, VARTA battery gave up after 3.8yrs of use, replaced it with Amaron Flo 65AH (5.5k Rs)

45K service done in Tafe Hosur Road
Nothing much other than all the four filter(oil, fuel, air,AC) change and oil change. I use to buy oil from outside and provide as for Octavia the recommended specification of oil is VW 507.00 but they use VW 505.00 as it is difficult to source 507 oil.
Looks like Skoda service is improving, Tafe did the service in 2 hrs (without water washing) and provided the car, thanks to their CRM Mr. Venkat for this.

Castrol Edge 5w-30 that meets VW 507

For people wanting to buy the Octavia, as Skoda is now replacing the 2016 Octavia with the 2017 Octavia, they are selling their existing 2016 Octavia stock demo cars at a hefty discount (upto 20% as per their website).
Details are on the link
http://www.skoda-auto.co.in/aid/skod...demo-car-offer

These are most likely highline models and should be available at a good price.

So much for the DSG's issues being solved. Take a look at Hemant Bafna's Octavia 1.8 TSI's service history.

1084 Vehicle_History_4_HistoryC.PDF

Among other things, the gearbox, mechatronics, clutches, flywheel, fuel line, gaskets etc. have been removed / replaced. All in 20,000 km.

Sad to hear. Any update? How old is your car?

Car is just about 2.5 yrs old - update is that the Mechatronic is a VIN specific part and needs to be manufactured and coded and sent - waiting for the part. I have been informed that it will come next week...

Went to the launch of the new Skoda Octavia today in Tafe Access, St. Marks Road, Bangalore. Spoke to my SA who sold me my Octy as well. He said that the white lights from the licence plate and puddle lamps are easily swappable. He even said that the ambient lights could be retro-fitted onto older Octys.

I have made a video of the top 10 new features (according to me) available on the facelifted Octavia. Please do take a look.

Very nicely made & edited, professional standard, your voice is equally impressive. It beats many pro reviews elsewhere. Probably you should explore this as a profession ( if not already!)

Trust Autobahn agreed to cover it without a fuss. I think it's only a coding issue - the part itself is standard.

Everyone I know with a 1.8 TSI AT has suffered mechatronics failures - 2.5 years is probably the median failure point. I think it's time Skoda starts treating the mechatronic like a consumable part - and automatically replacing it at 2 year intervals.

Also wonder how the economics work - Skoda must be bearing a large cost for these free mechatronic repairs, but they still persist with the DQ200

@sandeepsharma - fantastic video.

Thank you very much Well, have actually started the new venture two months ago. Started off with tech videos as that was my job earlier too but now got into automobiles as well as per plan. Have also made a review of my Octavia to get the ball rolling.

Please do watch if interested

Thanks a lot! My Octy has done 10.6k so far and no issues except for the occasional jerking when downshifting. Hoping that a DSG reset would fix it when I take it to service. Nothing else so far but all these stories do leave me in fear.

Does it make sense to go for a pre-facelift model now at a very attractive price?

A demo model or a brand new unit? Also what's the difference in price? I personally would go for the newer one if given a choice and price difference wasn't too big. Dislike the front grill but there are several new features such as the larger touchscreen, colour maxi for, ambient light strips, side sensors etc that make the price difference worth it

Nicely compiled video Sandeep. Good thing is, you did not look awkward even a bit in the video and you are quite fluent with English which made it a good watch.
