Am little surprised, since Ambition 1.4 TSI in Delhi ex-showroom is 14.95, and typically it means than Bangalore will be 15+, since the ex-showroom prices are almost always higher here. If it's really 14.66 ex-showroom Bangalore, then I would say it's not as disappointing.

Still, for the same price, one could get a 1.8 TSI earlier, and I lament the days when one could get a MT Laura 1.8 TSI at 13 Lakhs OTR post huge discounts.
Nope, its Ex - Showroom Pune, since I was replying to F150's post and he had quoted Pune prices. The prices are there on Skoda website.

Ambition 1.4 TSI is 15.21 Ex Showroom Bangalore.

THe Laura 1.8 TSI was one a hidden gem which no one noticed due to the dieselisation of our market. It was a sales dud and Skoda was forced to dole out discounts to clear out inventory. Some of us enthusiasts benefited of course

As a result they have altered their strategy and brought out the 1.4 TSI to tap the lower end of the market and kept the 1.8 TSI for the top end. Good sales strategy? only time will tell. But we can't blame them. The Laura 1.8 TSI MT really had very few takers.

My earlier post was incomplete owing to a goof up with the attachment at my end. Re-attaching the Bangalore prices. Thanks @ Santoshbhat, yes, it's 15.21 in Bangalore! I'm envious of Pune members!!

Do you have the break up for 1.4 TSI Ambition? The OTR really makes it look very overpriced - 19 lakhs!! I wonder what will happen to Superb when its launched. Will it touch 30 Lakhs OTR for a middle variant?

I doubt if these prices are sustainable in Bangalore.

Also, the Ambition MT that you're talking of at 16.2 is a diesel I believe?

Attachment 1147845

You are right, it is 6 speed. Not surprised though. But there are/were many such goof ups on their website. These may be small things but goes on to show the company culture.

No I took this on the phone from tafe

Superb already is priced at 31.5 lakhs on road

I doubt if these prices are sustainable in Bangalore.

Guys, checked the car out in flesh today.
My first impressions(they did not let me drive)

What's good.
Loads of leg space at the rear.
Interiors of the glove, magazine rack are felt lined and felt nice. Even the can holders have soft rubber.
Rear AC vents are a good add on. Though there is no controls.
Front seats have good comfort and nice thigh support.
The carpets are black and that's a good thing.
The system interface is nice and looks really cool when turned on.
The AC knobs are nice to use and feel well built though they are extremely tiny.
The boot is massive but the loading lip a little high.
Now to what's no good.

There was no vow factor when I first saw the car. Looks like a slightly overgrown Rapid.
The Elegance trim looks nice with the DRl and Bi Xenons. The other models look Plain Jane.
The piano black trims used exhaustively in the car,I feel this will be prone to scratches easily and looks very dusty.
The doors are light and don't have the build associated with Skoda.
The sunroof is massive and there is just a small flimsy kind of curtain on the inside. Not sure if this will keep the heat out.
The AC fan was noisy after the 4th turn on the regulator.
The manual seat adjuster for the lower versions requires quite a bit if adjustment to find the right driving position.
Transmission tunnel is massive and makes the car a 4 seater.
The cup holder on the rear seat armrest restricts the space you can rest your arms on.

Now to wait for a TD and see what the car is capable off.

Overall sounds like a great car (seeing is believing), but the looks on the rear disappointing...Looks like an overgrown rapid.

Vid, thanks for the wonderful review.

A quick question: when the notchback opens up, how far does the boot lid go up? Would that be a problem for short people? Don't really want people to jump up to grab the handles to drag the boot lid down. That would be just comical and inconvenient.

At Rs. 20+L, I'd reserve my money for the time being if I were to buy a new D segment car. Skoda really needs to show up on the After Sales & Service department and treat its customers right. The top end Elegance TDi comes to around 25 and that is BMW territory, right? I am not sure if people would really go for that. Anyways, a lovely looking car on the outside and the panoramic sunroof is really nice.

Good luck to Skoda! And, the wait for Diwali / New Year discounts begins!

Viddy, an excellent review. My friend is contemplating on booking. Which variant would you put your money on. Is the Elegance worth the 24.6 lakhs OTR Bangalore?

"The vehicle had been discontinued after 2010 as the second generation version of the vehicle did not meet the emission requirements."

This is an excerpt from a news story on Business Today. Is there any truth in this statement? Because AFAIK, Laura WAS the 2nd generation Octavia. So, this particular journalist seems to be an ignorant lad.

Here is the full story: http://businesstoday.intoday.in/stor.../1/197666.html

All Skoda's have a reputation for long shelf life, if maintained well. I think at these prices too they will find buyers. With an (increasingly) common parts bin, spare prices should also trend downwards. Touch wood.

Thumbs up Re: Skoda Octavia : Official Review

No matter how many YouTube reviews of the car you have watched previously , a Team-Bhp review will always offer something new! Says a lot about the attention to detail that you guys have. Great review Vid Having said that, I would still love to see a 10 minute or even 20 minute Team-Bhp video review. Would be a wonderful addition to this.

Was just checking the Bangalore OTR prices and the prices are really insane. 23 big ones for a top end Diesel Doesn't a 2 year old used BMW 320d with the 5 year 'secure' option make more sense at that price point ? I wonder!
