I recently did a 2000kms trip, and the car behaved flawlessly. Since tyres are comparatively low profile, I had to be careful in the bad stretches to be kind to the sidewall. But the car behaved beautifully, and I was consistently doing great highway speeds without any problems. The 6th gear is a great boon on the highways. For the diesel, 100kmph comes at around 1800 rpm. However, I now hear a small rattle from the inside the passenger side door.

I would suggest you do this through the Hyundai service and not a third party.
Guess you were right. Visited Kothari Hyundai today to check/repair a noise coming from front left wheel during braking. During this I asked him to check on the coil spring update as well. The SA checked with their stores guy regarding coil spring update for the Verna. He mentioned that these were upgraded by Hyundai in 2013 but not sure if 2015 Verna has the same part number of a different one. Any knowledge on this anyone? They currently have only the rear springs in stock and would need to procure the front ones or get from some other showroom.

Planning Pune - Goa next week, quote excited to test the new springs

Guys, Need help with an issue with my 2014 Fluidic Verna. My car has done 25k kms as of now.

The issue is a mild disturbing sound like a very very mild thud coming (Probably from suspensions both front & rear) when entering and exiting speed breakers, This happens only when the entry and exit are too upright and not smooth. On the same speed breakers, I have traveled in Uber Etios & Swift dzire, I don't hear any sound.

Anyone facing this issue?

I think most of the Verna owners face this. Get it checked from the ASS during your next visit. It is well known that Verna's suspensions are not the best in class, Etios and swift would do better at least at city speeds. Just a Verna owner's perspective, I am no expert at this.

Cheers!

I think it is this Thud which made the Verna In-famous.
As rightly pointed out, you should get it checked by the A.S.S. By now, they would have got some real world experience of correcting the Thuds from the thousands of Vernas out there.

And guys, the inevitable has happened. Saturday morning, I am stuck in a jam and a big lorry tries to squeeze into the lane next to me. Scraped my right rear below the tail lamp. The paint came off, there is a scratch and a small dent.
Now, what do I do?
Do I buy some stuff available online for removing scratches? I have heard mixed reviews of them.
Or do I go to A.S.S. and ask them to give it their best shot.
Also, someone told me 3M is really good at handling such things. So, what do I do?

Suggestions.

Getting it done at A.S.S, They will definitely charge anywhere between 3k-4k, No matter, how small or big the damaged portion is, they always want to repaint entire panel. See if you can get it done at some local shop.

Could you please post some pics of the same?

Oh gosh ! That's sad to happen it this early.

Let's expect these sort of things happening in metros, it's inevitable. We try to save our treasure to no end but in that thick jungle of cars some brushing ultimately happens, sometimes at no fault of yours. I just missed being scratched today, a two wheeler banged against my left front tyre at the signal where i was quietly waiting. Luckily nothing else happened. No scratch or something.

Here's what you should do , take it to the ASS & get it redone. If it's not much of a big patch, cost wouldn't be very high & should be <5k, but since the car is new they should be able to match the color perfectly. Pay by yourself, not through insurance. The Nil Claim Bonus @ 45% is a huge sum , don't miss it.

Then i suggest you take the car to a 3M service station & get a Paint/UV protection application done. Even i shall be getting it done early next year.

Do post the course of action & the cost if you can. All the best.

Hey Karts and Nagesh.

Thanks for your replies. I went to 3M and showed them the scratch. They mentioned that they can remove all the scratches except the one where the paint is off. It would cost 1300/- and would include free car wash and wax. They also advised me to go for some microfilm covering, which would cost almost 12k.
Next I went to the A.S.S. The person told me we would get the entire part (from the fender all the way till rear door) repainted. It would be a perfect match and would take 2 days. It would cost 6k. If I choose to go for insurance, I will have to pay 1500/- (as mine is Zero Depr policy), else it would be 50-50, meaning I would end up paying 3000/-.

As of now I am still thinking of my options. The dent is tiny and so is the part where the paint is off. It should be 1 cm by 0.25 cm.

Unfortunately haven't got a picture of it, will click one and upload soon.

Happy motoring guys !

Rightly said Nagesh. In the jungle of cars in metros, we not only have to take care that we don't any one else, but also make sure that others are not hitting us. I have many such experience for no fault of mine.

1.) In chennai, In slow moving traffic, A tata ace was to my left, The traffic started moving, all of a sudden the Tata ace guys decides to swerve to its right and in doing so, tear off my entire Left ORVM, Reason? a biker in front of him a braked hard and to avoid him, he swerved right. (Why the hell cant the Ace guy as well brake?)

2.) Going on the right most lane in OMR, was crossing a stationary bus, the bus driver swerves to its right to overtake another bus, I brake hard to avoid a front collision and I hear 3 huge thuds from rear, 3 bikers banged my rear bumper one after another at 3 different places.

3.) Standing quietly at the Toll booth, was paying the money, "Thud", a verito guy missed to judge the braking distance and ended into my bumper.

Its not cheap to repair all this, the left OVRM costs 6k+ taxes, Bumper replacement & repaint costs 5k+ taxes. Minor scratches, I let it be and repair when the damage is too much.

I can visualize all these anecdotes & can't help but laugh !

It pains you to no end when you have to shell out money for someone else's deeds.

Till the very first brush/ scratch, one is very very careful after which there is a sense of surrender & you let it roll on like that. Here in Mumbai almost every other private vehicle is seen dented & scratched around on the bumper & just as you said no one seems to be in a hurry to get it restored.

At the same time it helps a great deal to be aware of the surroundings & vehicles around you & drive in anticipation. ( am not preaching)

Enjoy & have a safe drive !

Karts, you have described the situations just perfect !

I totally agree with Nagesh. The feeling of surrender sinks in very quickly after the 1st few scratches. I am thinking of driving my Verna around with the scratch and gift her complete body repairs every year on her birthday.

A close relative of mine is considering purchasing the Verna 4s in Mumbai. Have seen that the discounts being given are 15K cash discount and 50K exchange bonus. Can any more discounts be expected on negotiation? Can folks who have recently purchased one please share the discounts they received.
Thanks.

What you are stating here is 15+50= 65k discount at the moment.

The fact is , i recollect Hyundai advertising around 80k discount on Verna in total just around a month ago as that's their least selling model

I bought Verna 4S Petrol in Aug 2015 & negotiated a discount of 70k. I had got the deal done through an agent who was helpful. If your relative needs help in getting a good deal for Verna you can share the contact details. I can get his services.

Hello Ashua,

I think you can definitely get more than just 15k discounts on the Verna at the moment. A little negotiation would do the trick. Verna isn't selling and with the year end approaching, dealers would be willing to give more discounts to ensure 2015 manufactured cars are sold in 2015, thereby ensuring not many 2015 cars are carried forward.

Also, please see the insurance quote given and try to get a few counter quotes from the open market. You can save a great amount there.

And, as it goes without saying, go for the kill when it comes to freebies.

No news from my fellow Verna 4S owners in a long time ! Everyone's busy riding their magnificent machines ??

Here's a piece of news ! The inevitable happened ! I am happy to announce that i have finally been touched & scratched by none other than an errant taxi driver whom i used to so boast about having an impeccable driving sense ! An unruly exception to that !

I was patiently driving/ waiting in a traffic maze near Dadar west, Hanuman Temple, when this taxi coolly brushes me from rear left. Highly unlikely for a Mumbai Taxi ! I could feel a light push & knew instantly of the ordeal waiting for me ahead.

I do not have the slightest experience in such things as in my 18/20 years of driving, there hasn't been any third party involved for any mishap.

I asked the taxi driver to pull aside which he reluctantly did after a while & all this time telling me that only his ovrm had brushed against mine. I inspected my vehicle to find very fine scratching on the front left door & failed to notice the one on the joint of the rear bumper & left door, a 2 inch by 2 inch patch. The driver was scared as he also wasn't in a uniform & thought i would book him to a police. I let him off looking at the minor damage, however on hindsight i thought i should have booked him & should have called his owner now that the repair would be over 5/6k as just a touch up would not suffice.

I am very very disappointed albeit knowing fully well that these things are highly likely in a metro traffic scenario. Only solace in Mumbai is that, the "BEST" drives perfectly, the " Taxi"s behave orderly ( an aberration here & there),one has to be beware of 50% of private car owners & 100% of Auto drivers & two wheelers. This is my reading of Mumbai traffic sense in general.

On a Verna 4S thread i am this perilously close go off topic, but here's what i intend to do.

1. Find out the cost of damage repairs from Hyundai. I expect it to around 5/6 k unless Hyundai surprises me. I shall pay it happily out of my pocket.

2.Should i claim the amount through insurance i will stand to lose the Nil Claim Bonus the next year & the accumulated NCB's amount to a handsome sum over the years if the vehicle goes mishap free. Hence i would rather not claim it under insurance.

3. I will visit 3M & get the paint protection work done up along side the annual protection package. Will want to understand the cost element of that too.

Fellow Verna owners, kindly throw in your valuable experiences/ suggestions on this line of action. Thanks in advance.

Hey Drive2eternity, have you done up your repairs ?
